Many of you know I love statistics and I have created several stats pages around the site. But I also track some stats in private. One of the things I track is how CKA is doing as a forum in the Canadian forum landscape.

I have a list of 20-30 Canadian forums, and I track the top 15 each month. I track the total post count and the # of new posts since last check.

CKA Is not the largest by post total.. yet, but we are fast on our way. For a number of months CKA has been the most active and fastest growing Canadian forum that I know of and track.

The 2 forums still above CKA in totalposts are very partisan forums, one is very left, the other is very right. But if the trend continues the non-partisan CKA will come up the middle PDT_Armataz_01_35

Here is a sample of some of the data I track for my March 2007 update.

[hr]

Rabble.ca: 1,082,410 - left-wing forum
Freedominion.ca: 924,169 - right-wing forum
Canadaka.net: 532,064
Army.ca 523,333 - army forum
Canadiancontent.net: 330,191
mapleleafweb.com: 188,756
enmasse.ca: 102,223

-----------------------------------------------------------

Growth since last update (to compare)
Canadaka.net 51,922+
Freedominion 25,748+
Canadiancontent 24,527+
Rabble/babble 23,423+
Army.ca 17,412+
mapleleafweb 12,525+

[hr]

Why do I do this? Well because I like tracking stats like this, and so I can make sure CKA stays competitive and at the top of its field with more features, content and ease of use. One thing I know I need to take car of this spring to ensure future growth, is a server upgrade or 2nd server.

Good job Trev. Though some may disagree, I like the fact that this site offers a variety of views and nuances and doesn't hold to some preordained party line. Yes, some faster servers would be key. Sometimes things get frustratingly slow.

Non-partisan? Half the topics are usually a left and right battle or French vs. English, Muslims vs. non-Muslims. :P

Good work Trevor.

Have you considered having a 'back end' SQL server and a 'front end' communications server?

We are compared to rabble or freedominion. Dreadfully boring sites imho. How to you get around 1 million posts when you all agree with each other 99% of the time? They must hold a lot of spam offs ;)

yes I mean non-partisan in the sense the site/forum is not specificaly geared towards any one party or political spectrum. But rather promotes all view points. Of course because of this opinions are bound to clash from time to time, its what makes things interesting ;)

Yes, that or move all the other small sites i host on the server to a server by themself, still not sure which would offer the most improvement.

This was one of the main reasons for making the Political party sub-forums here, for people that want to do that from time to time.

Good work Trev! The site has gotten better and better since I joined a couple of years ago. I really like the blogs and radio that you added last summer.

Check out either site, Clog. After a very short time it gets awfully boring, regardless of which side you're from. There are very few "real" discussions, and the most interesting are when someone dares to disagree.

I argued a point at FreeDominion once, and a woman with more posts than WDHIII got all condescending and asked me for a link, so I directed her to the opening post of the topic, which she herself had posted. :D

:D Well I will take your word for it then and not bother seeing what is there. I only have a couple forums I am on and view this one and mostly Strategy Page.
