I'm just asking because a thread I was posting in earlier has been locked with no warning and really no reason as far as I can see. It wasn't a very productive thread, a little bit of a flamer, but I've seen much worse here before. Does it just have to be a few complaints and that's that? In case anyone wants to see the damage look here.

You know what? That has always been a big taboo for me. I will from time to time use it, but I do hate to use those things, lol.

I thought I had already on one post in that thread in particular. As it does bug me to push the lil button, I was hoping something would happen when I did push it, like a lil mushroom cloud would appear on my screen and the offending poster would be vapourized at once. Or a lil Mod would run across my screen with a massive fly(poster) swatter and squish said offender.

But alas, it was just a nice dream, lmao.

That would be cool there is no doubt. I have to say that just because a post is reported, it's not an automatic sentence for lethal injection, but at least it brings it to our attention so we can look at it. As I've always said, we can't read every post made.

I disagree with the locking of threads for several reasons:

1. Conversation, whether in type or words, follows a natural ebb and flow with one thing leading to another. I can appreciate trying to restrict topics from a natural progression in lxd but in the general forums I believe you will stifle much of what makes CKA popular.

2. It is still the suppression of speech whether you endorse it or not and it is wrong. If someone wants to go off on a tangent for a few posts let them. Either the other posters will lose interest or will join in and take the discussion in a new direction, either way let the market decide what it wants. (That is the secret to a successful venture)

3. It is impossible to fairly monitor and judge all threads.

4. The site loses its spontaneity if your posts must follow some rigid order.
