Full title: ‘Sink two aircraft carriers’: Chinese Admiral’s chilling recipe to dominate the South China Sea

$1:
Beijing has a devastating plan to force the world out of the East and South China Seas — and it could cost the US 10,000 lives.

They’re the pride of the US fleet: enormous 100,000 tonne, 333m long nuclear-powered aircraft carriers. But Beijing thinks they’re Washington’s achilles heel.

Rear Admiral Lou Yuan has told an audience in Shenzhen that the ongoing disputes over the ownership of the East and South China Seas could be resolved by sinking two US super carriers.

Taiwan’s Central News Agency (CNA) reports Admiral Lou gave a wide-ranging speech on the state of Sino-US relations. The high-profile, hawkish military commentator reportedly declared the current trade spat was “definitely not simply friction over economics and trade,” but was instead a “prime strategic issue”.

His speech, delivered on December 20 to the 2018 Military Industry List summit, declared that China’s new and highly capable anti-ship ballistic and cruise missiles were more than capable of hitting US carriers, despite them being at the centre of a ‘bubble’ of defensive escorts.

“What the United States fears the most is taking casualties,” Admiral Lou declared.

He said the loss of one super carrier would cost the US the lives of 5000 service men and women. Sinking two would double that toll.

“We’ll see how frightened America is.”

FIGHTING WORDS

Rear Admiral Lou Yuan is deputy head of the Chinese Academy of Military Sciences.

In his speech, he said there were ‘five cornerstones of the United States’ open to exploitation: their military, their money, their talent, their voting system — and their fear of adversaries.

Admiral Lou, who holds an academic military rank — not a service role — said China should “use its strength to attack the enemy’s shortcomings. Attack wherever the enemy is afraid of being hit. Wherever the enemy is weak …”

It’s not the controversial commentator’s first aggressive outburst.

And its part of a steadily escalating war of words between the two nations.

Earlier in December, the Chinese state-run Global Times published the views of a panel of such ‘military commentators’ concerning Beijing’s sovereignty claims over Taiwan and the East and South China Seas.

“If the US naval fleet dares to stop in Taiwan, it is time for the People’s Liberation Army to deploy troops to promote national unity on (invade) the island,” Admiral Lou said.

“Achieving China’s complete unity is a necessary requirement. The achievement of the past 40 years of reform and opening-up has given us the capability and confidence to safeguard our sovereignty. Those who are trying to stir up trouble in the South China Sea and Taiwan should be careful about their future.”

It was just one of a string of similarly hawkish views.

“The PLA is capable of taking over Taiwan within 100 hours with only a few dozen casualties,” said retired lieutenant general Wang Hongguang. “2018 is a year of turmoil for Taiwan, and a possible military conflict may take place in Taiwan soon. (But) As long as the US doesn’t attack China-built islands and reefs in the South China Sea, no war will take place in the area.”

China attacking two US carriers means total war with the United States.

I don't understand the Asian mind that repeatedly makes the mistake of thinking that non-Asians will be intimidated by this kind of aggression. It just pisses us off, unifies us against the foe, and commits us to the utter and complete annihilation of the enemy.

And setting a US Navy port of call visit to Taiwan as a trip wire is daring Trump to send a task force to Taiwan...which he will absolutely do.

On a bit of military trivia here do pay particular attention to Asian members of the US and allied militaries. If/when they start talking about Joe Chink you'll know that shit's getting serious.

Been my experience that when someone calls out Joe Chink they're referring to a Chinese target that's about to be engaged.

Agree as well. If they could end up sinking two carriers, they USN would ensure China wouldn’t have a navy for the next hundred years. The can check with Japan on that one.

It’s a picture of Archer with the caption: “Do you want a nuclear war China? Cause this is how you get a nuclear war.”

Its Archer, in one of the episodes Lana, his co workers dumps some donuts on the floor and Archer says "do you want Ants, Lana? Because this is how you get ants Lana!" I just changed it to say "Do you want a nuclear war, China? Because this is how you get a nuclear war, China".

I felt it fitting.

The interesting thing is JSDF Navy is quite impressive, especially its aircraft carriers helicopter destroyers.

It is.

Although the US response would not be nuclear unless the Chinese use nukes against our carriers.

Our opening moves would be to target and destroy China's nuclear capabilities and we'd hit them in a time on target operation where their land, sea, air, and space (if any) assets get destroyed all in the same few minutes.

Then we'd probably back off a little. Give them a chance to digest what happened before decapitating their government, military, and intelligence.

I really don't know what's in their heads with this shit because it won't fly with this President. If any President since Reagan would be willing to go all in on a war it's Trump.

Other thing is that China doesn't have any friends.

If the USA gives China a beat down then India, Russia, Vietnam, and etc. will certainly step in to settle old scores.

Wouldn't surprise me if India chucks a nuke at them right after the US neuters their nuclear capabilities.

The Chinese suffer from Middle Kingdom syndrome in which they truly believe that China has a god-given right to rule the world and that all of the world should bow down and pay them tribute.

They really believe that if they make this kind of demonstration then the USA will be impressed and intimidated and that we'll back down and surrender the Pacific to China.

It's a flaw in their culture to believe they have some sort of superiority that gives them a right to rule and their cultural bias in this regard is so pervasive that it renders them (collectively) unable to recognize the mistakes of every other bunch of fools who thought they had such rights.

I hate to say but I am starting to wonder if war with China is inevitable. They seem to have committed to war with the USA as a natural step to global dominance.

Not to mention that this announcement is going to have an impact on trade negotiations.

Any US-China trade deal just got that much harder to create.

The thing is that China will likely have the upper hand militarily in a couple decades anyways, so why even bother provoking the US now when it still has the ability to inflict massive damage on your country?

Rhetoric like this is just plain stupid and plays into Trump's hands.

I doubt the US would use nukes, even tactical ones against China.

US conventional forces are more than capable of delivering a crushing blow and avoiding nukes (especially if China used them) would allow the US to take the high road and keep popular support around the world.

I agree with Bart that China's enemies would also take the opportunity for a little payback for the past 50/60 years - China would be lucky to stay unified if that happened.
