TattoodGirl TattoodGirl:
And the proper spelling is ..... Vasilij Grigorjevič Zajcev, the middle name is huge.

It's not the name almost)
Vasilij - name (My name is Vasilij too :) )
Zajcev - surname (Means Rabbit if translate from Russian)
Grigorjevič- the name of his father
(It's old respective tradition to say comed from Kievan Rus).

Zajzev had a Hero medal of Soviet Union. It's a joke that it's medal can be given only after death, so he had it during his life, and it of cource means something. And in addiction TattoodGirl he was Russian, not pole, and was born in the village near Chelyabinsk(Middle Russia).

Vasilij Zajzev Stalingrad 1942

I'd suggest Rob Furlong, but he only has the longest combat kill. I'm sure he has more than one combat kill, but he wasn't really a 'propaganda' icon like Lyudmila Mikhailivna Pavlichenko, or Veronica Foster ("Ronnie, the Bren Gun Girl").

I think she should get honourable mention:

This 19 year old ex-cheerleader (Canadian Forces Sniper) was watching a road that led to a NATO military base when she observed a man digging by the road. She engaged the target (she shot him). It turned out he was a bomb maker for the Taliban , and he was burying an IED that was to be detonated when a Canadian patrol walked by 30 minutes later. It would have certainly killed and wounded several soldiers. The interesting fact of this story is the shot was measured at 725 yards. She shot him as he was bent over burying the bomb. The shot went through his butt and into the bomb which detonated; he was blown to pieces. The Air Force made a motivational poster of her:

Simo Hayha was one hardcore mofo. He really did earn his nickname, "White Death".

On another note, some believe that the Winter War and the result it had on the Soviets is what helped convince Hitler that the Soviet Union could fall rather easily in an invasion.
