I believe through and through that she is manufactured and doesn't write any of her songs. She has an excellent voice... but honestly I don't want to see her face in the media anymore and I really hate her poser "I'm SO PUNK OMG" attitude. Yes, poser.
Recently, I went to the Tsunami relief aid concert. I paid a lot of money to get there

and I was really excited about pretty much every performer... except Avril. Avril, though she was not the headliner, was always the picture associated with this benefit concert. Her face in the articles, her cutout displayed the most prominently. I actually went to the performance anticipating Avril and *hoping* to GAIN respect for her from it.
Yeah well, I lost even MORE respect after her performance. To say it was wooden would be giving her credit. The whole act felt rushed, like she didn't give a shit why she was there, what this was for, or how Canadians opened their hearts to be there. Her idea of "stage presence" was standing and screaming with no expression, and then stomping like a soldier across the stage and screaming again. There was ZERO emotion, in fact, she *sucked* emotion away from the performance. You could definitely tell the Avril fans because they were all "WOO AVRIL" and the other 80% of the audience were looking at each other going "what... the... f---"
I also don't feel she's patriotic. If she was, it should have shown at Tsunami aid. Instead, after her rushed performance, she gave attitude to Rick Mercer and brushed him off like he was some fly. I feel sorry for the guy from his hometown, because she answered a question about it as if to say "omg, how boring." I was offended by her callous demeanor. Then later, when the whole crew who had turned out to perform and done brilliantly came together to sing the mandatory "Kindness is Awesome, let's all band together!!!" singalong, Avril showed up halfway through, chewing GUM, and stood there grudgingly like the teenager that she is at a family reunion photograph.
So yeah. I have NO respect for Avril. I am apalled that she had such a poor attitude at Tsunami Aid and yet she was the one whose name was blazoned the most. One person who doesn't get enough credit as a Canadian artist I think is Sarah McLachlan (and she'll have to forgive me for repeatedly butchering her last name!

) In her performance she was just a pillar of emotion, and it resonated like waves throughout the stadium... you could really feel it

Not to mention she was the driving force behind the benefict concert in the first place.
So yeah. My $0.02. It's hard to judge someone before you see them live, imho.
