Vivaldi. I love all of his music.

Some of Bach's music makes him a very close second.

Yay, another agonizing decision thread...

I don't have a favourite per se, but my favourites are:
Beethoven
Mozart
Dvorak
Berliloz

Constantinople Constantinople:
Vivaldi. I love all of his music.

Some of Bach's music makes him a very close second.

Wagner, Rossini, Don Henley, Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney, Elton John

Chopin. Lennon/McCartney. Bach. Mozart. Not necessarily in that order.

Constantinople, what kind of list is this without Aaron Copeland? You HAVE to love his "Fanfare for the Common Man," and "Appalachian Spring." He's a rarity: he's American.

John Williams is my favorite classical composer. His scores for motion pictures are nothing less than symphonies and I agree that time will place him among the immortals.

I own his Greatest Hits CD (a two-pack) and I have it on quite frequently while commuting.

That said, my favorite overall composer is Phil Collins. No one will know his name in 300 years the way they'll know John Williams, but stiil, he is my personal favorite.

Hey, what can I tell you - I love the disillusioned sounds of Tchaikovsky. I am also a Vivaldi fan but that is limited to the four seasons.

blegh... Baroque fluff. Vivaldi and his arpeggiated figures are uninspiring, to say the least... Bach, too. It's the kind of music that makes you sit back and say, "Well, that was quite pleasant," if it didn't put you to sleep.

Classical and Romantic Period/Era gave us the greats, Beethoven above all.

Note to all: People who say they don't like classical music are wrong; what they don't like is Baroque music. Stop giving classical the blame!!
