If Stephen Harper were kidnapped by terrorists from Lichenstein, and Ms. Stronach was proclaimed the leader of the Conservatives, how would it affect your opinion of that party?
No effect, I hate Conservatives no matter how good they look.  9%  [ 2 ]
I might give the Conservatives a second (or third look)  13%  [ 3 ]
I prefer to waste my vote on the NDP,.... when I bother to vote at all  17%  [ 4 ]
Bring On The Babe!  61%  [ 14 ]

Seems Mr. Harper's image (or lack thereof) may be the one thing preventing the Conservatives from delivering a well deserved ass-kicking to the Liberals. Perhaps the Conservatives need to reconsider Belinda's leadership potential. One assumes that with Stronach as their leader, the Conservatives would increase the number of female voters heading to the polls. What about the other half? I would guess that given a choice between a lying Liberal leader and an attractive Conservative, many Canadian men would get off the couch and vote (yes dear, some of us really are that shallow).

She is a red torie. Moderatly socially progressive, but economically conservative (or neo-classic lib). She has a lot of appeal, and I would consider voting Con if she was the leader. Stephan Harper is Canadian Alliance to the bone. I could never vote for a party that supports him. The way the other parties are looking right now, I would vote Con in a second if Belinda was running the show. She just needs to work on her French.

I agree with the voting for Belinda but the comment that Harper is Canadian Alliance to the bone is preposturous.

I can't believe people actually thinks Belinda Stronach is a capable leader of this country. Balloons have more more to offer than she does. Then again, it would reduce the popularity of the conservatives... Yeah, she would be a great choice for the opposition...

Does anyone honestly believe she would've entered politics at all if it wasn't for her daddy's money (a daddy who loves Canada so much he lives in Switzerland btw).
I'd much rather have Harper as PM than her, she may be socially progressive but I don't trust her to protect Canadian sovereignty at all. Given the chance she'd have us integrated with the US quicker than you can say "Belinda for PM". Oh did I mention Paul Cellucci works for Magna now? :x

wow. You know what this thread prouves?

That the Liberal-Left in general are extreme hypocrites! They spend 90 per cent of the time hating and cursing the "Rich", yet they favour electing them. Harper, who is no millionaire, and who comes accross as your typical Middle-Class guy, is hated, while Belinda, a Bay-Street/Wall Street, uptown Manhatten, filthy rich, MultiNational CEO is loved!

Support anyone you want, but please...cut the Bullshit on Rich-bashing on one day, and electing the rich on election day.

So true, they (Liberals) have no real ideas and hate Harper so much they would vote for a little rich girl. Who is the hypocrite now.?

You know what this thread proves? just what a reactionary right winger you are... anyone more socially moderate than Harper immediately must be a darling of the "Liberal-Left"... talk about exclusionary

Did I say anything bad about Belinda? No. In fact all I was doing is showing the hypocrisy of the Liberal-Left.

You guys bitch and bitch and bitch about the "rich". Yet when it comes to elections you guys always choose to elect the rich snob. Its the same for all countries, its not a Canadian thing. Its an international thing. (Like John Kerry for example. His supporters always bitched about "The Rich" not realizing that he was one of the richest men in New England)

"You guys bitch and bitch"!!! thanks for proving my point, you've taken a thread started by obvious centrists who are towards the right of Liberal Party voters and you use it to start raging against the "Liberal-Left" :?

When did I ever bitch about the rich? Martin was a millionaire before coming into office as well. I bitch about the Rich people who treat other people poorly and just do what it takes to get richer.

I don't see what her father's money has to do with anything. She wouldn't have entered the three-ring circus that is Canadian politics voluntarily unless she truly wanted to make a difference and if her financial status makes it easier for her to do so, I don't have a problem with it.

What I do have a problem with however, is what little I can recall of her position on various issues. The fact that I can't remember is either an indication I need more Gingko in my diet or a sign that she lacks the ability to make a lasting impression on Canadians. And what I do recall makes her look like a female Stephen Harper (with apologies for that ghastly mental image).
