Toronto — Conservative Leader John Tory cast himself as a voice for rural Ontario on Saturday and pledged to mend relations with doctors as his bid to capture a seat in provincial parliament began in earnest."There are many people in this riding who live in the riding and work somewhere else," Mr. Tory said afterwards in a phone interview. "I'm going to be a person who lives somewhere else and works here."

The riding was previously held by former Conservative leader Ernie Eves, who resigned his seat earlier this month — making way for Mr. Tory.

I live in a small town in ths riding. What the hell am I going to do. For 10 years I've voted Conservative but I'm having my doubts now. So I have a few questions.

Does a vote for Tory show support for the federal conservative party?
Are the provincial Conservatives as fucked as the feds?
I can't vote liberal because of Dalton McGuinty. And the ndp wwell lets just say a friend and i have a death pac regarding the NDP. So whos left?

No independents or libertarians running in your riding provincially, Smokin' Joe? For that matter, if your greens have moved as far right provincially as the federal party has yu should have no problem casting a vote for them.

Federally you will likely be able to choose the Progressive Canadian Party in the next election, but they aren't fielding provincial candidates.

No, voting for John Tory in the by-election or the next Ontario election doesn't vote for Stephen "I say what goes on in your uterus" Harper. The Ontario provincial Tories are more of the neo-conservative ilk than social conservative.

Federally, all you can hope for is that Red Tories wrestle control of the party away from the Christers and put somebody like Belinda Stronach in charge.

Since that isn't likely, it's just easier to put the Liberals back in power federally. Sure, they swipe a couple of bucks here and there, let the military go to hell in a handbasket and stain US/Canadian relations a wee bit, but they CAN be trusted to defend social liberties.

Provincially in Ontario? Ask the Poll-Clerk if he or she will allow you to tape your ballot to the wall, whip a dart at it and vote for whomever it lands closest to.

If it's NDP, throw another dart.
