Senator apologizes for supporting Homolka
CTV.ca News Staff

A Liberal senator who sat with Karla Homolka's defence team during a court hearing on June 3 has apologized.

Senator Michel Biron, 71, sat beside Homolka's lawyer in a show of support. At one point he even gave Homolka a slight smile, witnesses say.

He later called Ontario's application to place restrictions on Homolka after her release from prison "unjustified."

"I have to give her a chance... I don't consider her dangerous," he said.

From the LIBERAL party of Canada's site:
Appointed to the Senate by the Right Honourable Jean Chrétien, Senator Michel Biron represents the Province of Quebec and the Senatorial Division of Mille Isles. He has served in the Senate of Canada since October 4, 2001.
LIBERAL Senate

Good choice Jean

Well well well. He's more interesting than I thought.

Friday, November 7, 2003: Yesterday 23 Liberal Senators voted against their own government’s bill – Bill C-10(b). As a result, perpetrators like those who stabbed and tortured a “stray” cat called Kensington for 20 minutes, then skinned her alive on video cannot be charged for animal cruelty under current animal cruelty laws!

Because she was not an “owned” animal, the law which has not been amended for 110 years, provides no protection for animals like Kensington.

Apparently 23 Liberal Senators think the existing animal cruelty legislation which was passed in the late 1800s and which does not recognize animal sentience, is OK for the 21st Century.Apparently 23 Liberal Senators think that unless an animal is “owned”, the animal deserves no protection from cruelty and abuse.

Guess who voted to against the safety of kittens & puppies? You got it LIBERAL senator Michel Biron.

Oh, I'm so sorry I disrupted you're usual Tory hate-fest. If you want the usual diet of Liberal, yellow journalism, you'll just have to listen to the CBC, or perhaps switch over to the Harper's hair thread.

I don't bitch day in and day out about the tories. In fact the only continual belly-aching comes from the anti-liberal crusaders on this forum. Any journalism that appears pro-liberal is yellow? Well in that case any journalism in the pro-conservative camp is nothing more then anti-gay, racist, religious nazi media. Works both ways don't it?

Bad yellow or CBC Yellow
Yellow or Yellow streak or Yellow-bellied - cowardice or coward
Yellow journalism - irresponsible reporting

Looks like it fits, this will be law now.

Yes it does work both ways.

For myself I do not care if the reporter who writes my news is a card-carrying Communist so long as he reports the bloody news without colouring it with his politics. In my hometown the major newspaper is a liberal propaganda rag which sells itself as moderate while trashing conservatives every chance they get. They edit wire service stories to inject liberal slant so extensively that Reuters and other wire services no longer let them use their names in the bylines. The wire services actually had to sue the paper for rewriting their stories and then falsely presenting them as if the wire service originated the edited content.

On the other side is the local tabloid that is put out by a collection of Communists, socialists, and anarchists and I have never seen them give anything less than scrupulously fair treatment to the conservatives they interview and the issues they report on. Most of the Republican conservatives I know read the openly left-wing newspaper to get their news. The tabloid, to their credit, isolates their political opinions to their columns and editorials.

As a good example, this should not have been on the second page of the vancouver Sun:
Image

What would the chance of them putting this in the paper?
Image

The first page was "MP's conflict 'apparent' not actual" That might have been Sgro, Ujjal Dosanjh, Tim Murphy or even Paul Martin, but it was Grewal AGAIN. The story has him legal, but he looks corrupt.
Second page has more on how Sgro may look horribly guilty but she was totally honest. Was that on the pizza thing or her use of stay permits as bribes..

Bad journalism is bad journalism, reguardless of who it's for. The CBC and the main stream press needs to set a higher standard, the Canadian people, not the political hacks.
