I just thought I'd share a picture of the FSIN Pow-wow that was this weekend. Image

Those are jingle dresses. There are typically 3 styles of dancing for women, jingle, traditional and fancy.

For men, the dances are Fancy, Traditional, Grass and Chicken although I'm not to familiar with chicken.

You can typically tell them apart by their outfits. My uploads are full so I'll look around online for some pics for you.

There's a couple other special types of "characters" who sometimes visit the pow-wow...out west here anyways. One is a Windigo or "backwards" person. He's a little like a zombie I guess, but not really all that evil. He does everything backwards, its a little frightning actually. If he touches something that belongs to you then your obligated to basically give it to him. But windigo's are few and far between, and you should feel lucky to have seen one...like seeing a leprachon or something. i got lucky and saw one once, but others have gone to hundreds of pow-wows and never seen one.

There was a smoke dancer at this pow-wow. She was dressed in white and danced alone in the dark. I missed it but alot of people say it was a very beautiful sight.

Hey, the girl on the right looks like an old girlfriend...I wonder if it's her daughter or something. Uncanny resemblance.

I've seen the Ghost Dance, Donny...it's really something to behold.

Donny
These colors can’t be traditional colors because if I am right your people had to use plant and mineral extracts. Don’t get me wrong I love it and they look great.
I was wondering if you had any more photos of a more traditional type.
I think some of the great plains Indians did some amazing work and the people of the Northern tribes were artist by anyons definition
Tell me, most of this type of work was done by the women did the men have any artistic out let and do you have any photos of that kind of thing.

I'm not sure what "Traditionally" the colours would have looked like. Alot of times some of these dancers will wear beads and bells. Things like that were forgin to our culture but adopted through trade with the Europeans. So like any group we have evolved while maintaining our traditions. Image
