What happened to the 2 Liberals that did not show up? I have heard that the Liberals are not too worried about it.

I only caught a glimpse of it on the news. I'll be more informed tonight when I watch the nightly news. I am still not up to date on this event. Although, some journalists seemed to be confused about the whole process.

This is a sad day, I also would have liked to see them cary it out.

i really think they should be working togather to pass the damn budget, that is there friggin job, not to fart around like a bunch of school children at the playground.

i guess we wait and see what happens in the following days.

What are they thinking? This only encourages me to vote Liberal, as I am certain many others. They should wait until the budget is passed and the Gomery inquiry, so that we can make a sound decision.

you know the whole innocent until proven guilty. i don't think its right to jump to conclusions until the inquiry is over, which they won't have to anyway because Martin has said he would call an election either way

One of the Liberal MPs is back east getting medical treatment.

Otherwise, despite the Liberals maintaining this isn't a confidence vote, it's a procedural vote; it's a confidence vote.

I, on the other hand, am happy to see that we are no longer in a 4 yr dictatorship scenario. It is good to know that we are now at a point where the government is held to task on their doings.

There may be some negative fallout, to be sure, but I am way to frustrated with the years of dictatorship of the Liberals when they could flip the country the byrd and do as they pleased with no consequence.

Now there is consequence, and the lessons should be long lived.

even with the 2 liberals being out there was still the 50% plus one rule. Canadian politics has taken a grave turn in years past beginning for me Brian the chin who walks like a man.

nixon resigned over a break into an office. Chretien played with his balls on antional tv and rubbed the you cannot touch me flag in the Canadian peoples faces. Martin was his henchman and yes it would have been nice to see the inquiry take them all down.

With the NDP siding with the liberals in a joint effort to give the Caqnadians what the Martin gov't said they would get (but held back as a "big blind" move) do you really think Martin doesn't know what he is doing. Hold all the cards close to your chest and no one will see what you have. If he was willing to give tax breaks before the waters got deep and now he is using them as a life raft thrown by the NDP to save his gov't - are we really gaining anything?
Then again this may still backfire in Harpers face yet.

Absolutely correct.

One only needs to look at the embattled former Immigration Minister Judy Sgro who was raked over the coals and accused of abusing her position by the Conservatives..

Only to be proven innocent of any wrong doing whatsover by the Ethics Commissioner.

I won't hold my breathe waiting for the Conservatives to offer her an apology for their slandering of her name.

$1:
But one Tory hinted at chaos in the Commons when asked whether his party would even bother attending Wednesday's question period.

"We believe that Parliament is finished," House Leader Jay Hill replied.

You know.. I don't see any problem with this.

In fact, if they choose not to attend.. I say the Government of Canada should carry on without them.

Trash is not normally missed.

It is evident that this government and the liberal maffia has lost the confidence of the parliament and the population.. So let's have elections as soon as possible.

Eh?

The MAJORITY of Canadians have said that they do not want an election held right now.

As for the parliament.. the only ones that have no confidence in the Liberals are the Conservatives who are so obsessed with gaining power that they're filibustering the house and the Seperatists

To hell with them.. they're not concerned about Canada anyways.

the other part of this, this wasn't an official non-confidence vote. The vote was only to ask the liberals to resign for which they can say no. Really the only chance the Conservatives have is to win the budget vote. They could call vote an actual vote of non-confidence, but this was just to test the waters. This whole thing today was just smoke and mirrors.

I am guessing you are from Ontario.

Canadians speak through their MPs, I believe, the majority of whom have asked for the resignation of the government. People that voted conservative or bloc are still Canadians, and their MPs speak for them.
