Icedcap you don't see it because it doesn't affect you! Before I got back into the military I had several government employers tell me point blank that they wouldn't even look /accept an application from me because I was a WHITE MALE! I will grant you it is getting a little better but there are still a number of companies/corporations that spell out point blank NO WHITE MALES!

There are a number of people on this site that say that is payback for years of discrimination but I say to them "How is discriminating in any form good for the people of this country? Will it eventually put an end to racism? Will it bring people of different races/cultures closer together? In fact it often seems to do the opposite of what is intended.

I am of the belief that the best person, regardless of status, for the job. That is what true equality is, not getting a job because of your race. I pose a question to anyone out there who is a visible minority "How do you feel when there are 2 standards for a job, one standard for whites and a lower one for visible minorities?

I'm definitely curious as to how people respond. If I was a visible minority I would find that insulting as it implied that somehow I am not smart enough to get a job on skills alone!

There's still the "old boys club".
My cousin, because he is an ilegitimate son of an Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources employee, works seasonally for the MNR as a S-300 fire fighter.. He told me directly,"They don't want us here." S-300's can make $20,000 plus for a fire season so these positions are reserved for friends of friends etc. So don't give me any bullshit about how clean and even it is for minorities..

Just for info Iced Cap. The flag Act 1964 states:

The Union Jack will, where physical arrangements allow, be flown along with the Canadian flag at federal buildings, airports, military bases, and other appropriate establishments within Canada, from sunrise to sunset, on the following occasions annually:
• the date of the official observance of Her Majesty The Queen's Birthday, on Victoria Day, the Monday preceding May 25;
• the anniversary of the proclamation of the Statute of Westminster (December11);
• the date of the official observance of Commonwealth Day (the second Monday in March).
Physical arrangements means the existence of at least two flag poles.

When was the last time you ever saw a Union Flag flown on any of these days? This is a Federal Act of Parliament that is ignored.
Just another example of the way Canada ignores it’s heritage and culture.

I’m glad Sikhs and others come here to make a life, but Canada’s culture has a place at the table along with multi-culturism. The problem is that a huge chunk of Canada’s population that is of British/Irish heritage are watching their culture eroding in the face of the cult of multi-cult. Be prepared for the backlash. Look at the views aired here, we are not alone in our feelings. They need to be addressed.

Too bad. Canada can still celebrate its heritage and culture without the flag of a foreign nation. Probably why OUR countries flag was adopted so as to be different from the Union Jack. Go figure.

Im of English heritage..I could care less. The Canadian heritage has to evolve sometime. Ever wonder why Canada has an identity crisis? Too many cultures trying to overtake one another.

Yes, you are a person of strong ideals........

You maybe need to travel a bit and widen that narrow horizon you look through. Try experiencing life outside the room you keep your PC in.

1095 posts , wow, you must spend a lot of time typing out your little manifestos!

Over 200 posts on your part and nothing constructive other than attacking others persception of Canada that dont agree with yours, ha ha. Grow up. Want to debate, debate, dont come at me with delay tactics like this.

I'd love to debate with you Tman but you just ending getting all pouty and slagging people off. I like a reasoned discussion about various topics but it appears you can't stomach others viewpoints. It's all getting very tiresome.

Gotta go, chicks to shag and beer to drink. You carry on typing mate, I'm sure some sad git will type back to you.

see ya!
