I am a french Canadian living in Ontario, for the past 4 years. I have been in the Canadian Forces (not Canadian ARMED forces by the way, Armed has been removed 4 years ago) for the past 19 years. I have spent a total of 6 years all over the world either a part of NATO or UN representing my beloved Canada.

The World know the difference between people living in Quebec or the rest of the country and trust me their is. Quebecers are different its not just a language question, Quebecers are more European then Canadian or American they are a mixture of French, English, Irish. If you take the time to study the Quebec history a little bit, you will noticed that the province has been built by Indian, French, Irish, and governed by English. Since the begining or industrilisation of the province, English governors have been trying to get rid of all other race in Quebec not only French speeking people. During both World War French Canadian have been sent to front line on no chances of success missions.England even sent Quebecers and newfie on front line in WW1 against a new weapon called mustard gaz without any protection as guinee pig and diversion, things like that are not easely forgotten.

But you should also praised what English and French races have accomplished, where in the World can you find two of the greatest enemy ever to live on earth (French and English) and reunite them in a parlement and still use democracy to settle their dispute??? You think you could do this in any part of the World???

I AM CANADIEN but also a QUEBECOIS yes I am different not only in my language but also in my way of life.

Did you know that there is more QUEBECOIS in the Canadian Forces then there is any other members of any province! think about that when you praise your Canadian forces you might be rooting for a QUEBECOIS also. Maybe thats why the Canadian Goverment is starving its troop???

Another thing, you people that keeps crying that you cannot get service in English in QUEBEC, if you had to move your French familly in CANADA 8 times in 19 years you would see that you don't know what you are talking about.

No I am not a separiatist but I have to admit that some ignorant uninformed people sometimes makes me wanna.

If a QUEBEC politician requests more money from OTTAWA for any reason, I dont see why I would not support him??? because ONTARIO did not want it QUEBEC should not have it??? what would you do if you were the QUEBEC premier?? Would you prefer the Federal Goverment spends billion on CANADA publicity in your province or in your health system??

DISTINCT is the exact word Quebec has been trying to get officially recognized for decades by the rest of Canada....in vain.
Quebec would have signed the constitution if the word distinct had been agreed by other provinces. But they never did.....

You are absolute right in saying that the Quebec culture is rich and colorful.
But it is not only the French that built this province and in particular the city of Montreal.
It is a blend of Irish Scottish English and French that made this province.
And I enjoy and always want to live and work here.
But to say things like the laws that are being enforced here are necessary for the protection of the French language is a deceptive thing to say.

Wouldn’t a better approach be to educate every one in the province in both languages not just French or English?
Giving deeper roots to the French language and exposing the culture to a wider segment of the population throughout the province and country.
Who would then automatically interact with each other thereby protecting both the French language and culture throughout not only the Province but also the rest of Canada?
And this would make the for a smoother relationship with the rest of North America.

Do you mean your language or your culture?
You might well force a family from lets say Germany to go to a French school but they will never give up THEIR culture.
So what you will end up with after a time is a large group of people that speak French and live their life with their culture.
They will not become attached to your culture they will keep their own.
So how is forcing them into a French school saving the French culture?


Actually if you look at what is going on is the French people will suffer.
They have no choice its French school or leave the provance.
They will not be able to function in an ever-growing Anglophone society.
