Rick is a pretty funny guy. Jan Arden was giving an interview on the radio yesterday; she recounted some of the adventures he has dragger her along on. Said he’s the funniest guy in Canada. I’d say Ron James is funnier.

Since Rick left 22 Minutes and got his own show I think his material has become a little more balanced. I would seriously like to see him cut the umbilical with the CBC though.

I missed the Ron James show in Calgary last week. We couldn’t get a babysitter.

Mercer is pretty good at being an equal opportunity offender. He bashes pretty much everyone.

Good rant and a lot of good points too.

if you watched the actual vote to change the convention to a one member one vote, it was all well known sitting MP's that stood up and spoke in favour. Everyone who spoke against it were what you would call as the "bottom up" or grassroots" they were young unknowns.

Additionaly Dion as a winner shows that the "bottom up" won again, since most the declared MP's had backed other Iggy or Rae. And the old Chretien and Martin camps were backing them. So by choosing Dion the old Liberals are out.

That was a good one! You should try stand-up.

Wow, I was wondering why the Liberal Leader vote turnout was so small in comparison to our Premiere vote. I just thought that nobody cared who became the next Liberal leader.

Rick Mercer just earned a little bit of my respect. Not much, but a little.

There's no reason why the Liberals couldn't have had all their members vote and still held a convention.

Of course, no one in the party thought of this because it seems entirely too innovative, and democratic for Liberal tastes.

You mean like the wheat board?
$1:
The government has also issued a gag order on the Wheat Board, saying it cannot use its resources to promote the single-desk model to its membership. The board has launched a countersuit to overturn the gag order.

Mr. Dion said Wednesday after the Liberal caucus meeting that he would try to protect the board against such attacks until its elected representatives hold a fair vote on a clear question of the board's future...

...“How far do you go in suppressing freedom of speech in this country? That's what the prime minister's up to. This is beyond an economic issue for farmers now. This is a democratic issue by an autocratic leader in the Government of Canada,” Mr. Easter said in Ottawa Wednesday.

Yes, the Liberals choosing a leader from Quebec is just so avant garde.

Translation: New liberals need to ensure the patronage system remains intact so they can one day be rewarded with their turn at the trough.

Sure, the bottom up if you don't mind people from the top directing you on how those at the bottom should vote! :?

Old Liberals out? Perhaps you missed my posting of the daily conversations between Chretien and Dion. The only thing that has changed at the Liberal leadership is that the English has gotten worse. The top prize is still the government till and Dion is hitting the entry button to open that damn cash drawer....

As for Rick's rant...good start. Sure hope he nails them for the next few months and lets people in on the actual goings on of the Liebral Party. Like I said, nothing has changed....Same shit, Same leader....just younger puppet.....Man that has to hurt his asshole with Chretien's arm all the way up there moving his lips!

Rick, by the way, was pretty vocally NDP 20 years ago, like most of us in the arts (like his CODCO companions. He may no longer be but as a gay man in the arts the likelihood is miniscule that he votes Conservative.

Em...have I missed something elsewhere?
