not since they sent me a registered letter back in October, I think. Do you think they have given up?

The mass refusal has likely become a political issue because far too many people refused (or so it seems anyway). I doubt anyone wants to stir up the pot because as it is there's very little confidence in the current government not to mention governments in general.

Now if only we could do the same thing protesting the massively corrupt taxation system which is many times worse than anything Stats Can has ever done.

Take note, the government has decreed that it has up to 2 years to show us who's the boss:
http://www.statcan.ca/english/about/statact.htm

Limitation period

37. Any proceedings by way of summary conviction in respect of an offence under this Act may be instituted at any time within but not later than two years after the time when the subject-matter of the proceedings arose. 1970-71-72, c. 15, s. 36.
"Take note, the government has decreed that it has up to 2 years to show us who's the boss:"
AH So,
so we do have a boss. the one we elect,
"Very in-ter-esssss-ting" he said in his best Arte Johnson voice
so we do have a boss. the one we elect
That's like saying "my boss is the guy I hired" which of course makes no sense at all.

Back to Stats Can ...

Don't you really like those "laws" that punish you for doing what you feel is the right thing?

The trouble with punishing those who refused the census, is that there really was a good reason to oppose it, and most Canadians will likely identify with the reason. Think about it. Who will agree with the hiring of an American war profiteering company that in addition to making bombs that kill children also do torture for hire?

To open the scandal up once again into the public's sphere of awareness through mass arrests won't be a very smart move for the government.
"That's like saying "my boss is the guy I hired" which of course makes no sense at all.'

I love it when the "I don't get its" pull the old "I don't understand therefore you are wrong" always gives me a chuckle
I love it when the "I don't get its" pull the old "I don't understand therefore you are wrong" always gives me a chuckle
With all due respect, sometimes I have difficulty understanding what you are talking about. That's probably my failing, not yours, so if you don't mind can you please elaborate on what you meant by the above? Your comment appears to have been a response to what I had previously said about "hiring the boss" and I don't yet see how it applies.

ps: I don't always agree with your views, but most of the time you make perfect sense after I've figured it out. So please take no offense with me asking for clarification, as it's a sincere effort to understand.
