There is pretty clear difference between switching parties over a confidence vote and doing it before Parliament has even sat/crossing for a Cabinet spot.

But I still don't believe that Canadian Politics should, on most occasions, devolve into namecalling.

Hehehee.... Harper won on a promise of "cleaning up government" and making it "more transparent". A little more than a month later the Harper government is mired into scandals more than anyone in opposition could have hoped. Yesterday Harper threatened to "fire" the integrity commissioner because he dared to start an investigation. Harper is badly in need of brushing up on the basics of democracy: he has no authority to fire an integrity commissioner, whose job is to act as a watchdog and act upon requests to investigate wrong doing by government. The request have been made and he is doing his job. The suspicion is that Emerson betrayed his constituents for higher pay, more perks, etc, which is a clear cut case of corruption, involving the government and possible the prime minister in person. If Harper really meant more accountability, he should cooperate with the investigation and make changes if required.

Sadly, I don't believe for a moment that the Harper government believes in the ideas they got elected for. My biggest scare is that they made a deal with the Bloc to stay in power no matter what, run the government as a dictatorship and during the next 4-5 years they will wipe out Canada, steal our accumulated wealth, tear the country apart and turn it into a Third World craphole.

This country is badly in need of a new election, the sooner the better, to get rid of these cynical gangster.
