Thing to remember, as nice as German cars are, they can be very temperamental and expensive to repair. For example. I drive a '99 Audi A6. I love it, it's the best car I've ever driven, but it is an expensive car to repair. I've sunk a few thousand dollars I don't really have into keeping my car alive on things like alternators ($400), timing belts (over $1000) and so on.

That's why I buy new, rather than buy someone else's problem.

Ended up going with the Nissan Sentra SE-R. It was just the best combo of price, performance, and practicality. Can't wait for the day I'm old and grey and can forget about price and practicality.

They ended up giving me a Sentra as a loaner when my car had to go in for some warranty work. This was a few years ago mind you and while I was initially not thrilled about it, I was pleasantly surprised after driving it for a bit.

Not that I had a problem with Nissan per se, their vehicles were just never esthetically pleasing to me.
But the Sentra was pretty decent to drive, even on longer trips.

Only 3 years? My car is turning 20, it's almost as old as I am.

I'm quite happy with it. It is quite conservative looking, but I find i like that.
It's quite roomy on the inside, wich is a bonus for a big guy like me who's accustomed to an SUV. 177 hp and sport tuned suspension in a small car also makes for a bit of fun. Not GTI levels of fun perhaps, but with better fuel economy and a smaller price tag new than the GTI had at 3 years old... I can do with a little less fun. I still have my bike for that ;)

I was about to test drive one, and then I saw the 30, 000 plus price tag on a used one and changed my mind.

Triumph Daytona 955. There's a pic of it somewhere here. Can't remember exactly which thread though.

Last big ride was Edmonton to Banff via Sylvan Lake. Then from Banff to Jasper(amazing ride that day!) And then home again on boring old Hwy 16

You know, you never really appreciate good fuel economy until you don't have it. My last truck use to get around 800km to a tank (100 liters), my new truck get 550kms to 600kms on the same size tank 8O  . I really miss the fuel economy of my last truck
