I just found out why the CAPC , the police chiefs association, suported the gun registry. The software firm which had the contract for running the gun registry, paid huge donations to CACP, to buy their support for maintaining the gun registry.

92% of cops on the street say the registry should be scapped, and the money used for more useful things, which actually work.
Guess they didn't get any donations from the registry managers.
