You should get the option of which faction after registering with the site.

With the studio support all the shiney things come along too, like the Resistance videos and the Skynet site. Being only a week old or so more will come with time I'm guessing.

Depends on your faction.

The Resistance is looking to get as much processor capacity (for the upgrades) possible before Skynet launches it's offensive.

Skynet is looking to maximize their resources and military in order to make the 45 level jump collectively and knock the Resistance off kilter.

Is there any indepth explanation of the game mechanics beyond the little intro?

I'm not sure how the radius works - if my radius is 230, it means I have 230 acres (which doesn't make sense to begin with), but how do I know how much of that I'm using? I have two farms generating 137 food per collection period, does that mean that each farm generates 68.5 food?
