After a sleep, my computer needs coffee to wake up. Or a kick in the ass... At any rate, Windows simply won't start, so a restart is necessary. (I know, 5 year olds... The computer, that is )

Five years is a pretty long lifespan for a computer, these days especially if you use it every day. Something's going to wear out ... hard drive, power supply, keyboard ...

I already had to replace my power cord twice. It also has been in a car crash a few years ago, the keyboard is actually VERY good compared to my previous one (that lasted 3 years and I couldn't type anymore). I get blue screens (not of death, no white letters telling me it is committing suicide) every other day after a nap...
But she is too dear to me to get rid of
