For that, you'll get the Queen's Jubilee medal.

They'll give that award to just about anybody these days. And Buzz Hargrove?? The Asshole of Canada award for sure but the Order of Canada??
Then again, they gave one to ol' Mossejaw Mulroney in the past and HE tried to sell this country to the US. I guess they'll give it to anybody these days.

Queen's Jubilee Medal..... only ones who knew someone or friends of someone got that. Same with that 125 Medal.

I think that everyone who lost thier lives in Afghanistan, Should at least be awarded that..." As they did loose thier lives protecting thier country (Canada)".

And those who can actually identify those medals in a rack discount them anyway.

Some have earned them through volunteer service to their communities. Such as volunteer search and rescue, so anybody who discounts them in a rack should get their facts first.

You're correct, but the vast majority weren't and as such those few who did earn them are lost in the pile of gong seeking badge hunters. Try and deny it.

Oh I can't deny it. I did volunteer marine search and rescue for 23 years, risking my life many times in the process, and helping countless people, and I haven't got anything to show for it, but the satisfaction I got from it. I am elegable, under the stipulations, for several gongs, but never applied for them.

It was pretty sad. Probably one of the most disappointing things one witnesses when you move up the ladder. The one guy from an entire western base who was awarded a 125 for volunteer work was nominated by the organization he helped. There was a co-ord conference called to discuss wether he could actually wear it on his DEU. The BCWO totally flipped out on the whistleheads for that. First time I ever saw that crap was when someone wrote his own reccomendation for an MMM. He was trying to spin his UER entries to make himself appear to be a gift to the branch.

It's funny how those who earn awards legit, care less about the shiny's. But it sure made me put in everyone I ever thought who earned something. Remember when a CDS Commendation was something?

Yeah. I'd like to pass something down to the grandkids though. I guess they'll have to settle for my CD, and some badges.

Nothing shabby about a CD. One puts up with an awful lot in the time it takes to earn one.

The Order of Canada ceremonies have been a bit tarnished over the years. I'm waiting for Pamela Anderson to get one. That's when I know things really are bad.
