http://www.cbc.ca/world/story/2010/10/2 ... sales.html

$1:
The Obama administration notified Congress on Wednesday that it plans to sell up to $60 billion in advanced weaponry to Saudi Arabia in one of the largest-ever single U.S. arms sales, a deal intended to counter the rising influence of Iran.

70 years ago the west had to choose between two evils. We backed one to defeat the other. Why does it feel like the same thing is happening again, and are we picking the lesser of two evils?

The Saudi's are a big problem? I wasn't aware of it. They treat their women poorly but the culture is still just emeging from a primitive base. They've been of considerable help to the West. Some how you worked a Nazi annology into that.

The Israeli's are America's BFF's in the middle east.

The Saudi's are America's largest business partner in the middle east.

The Saudi's don't like sitting on the back burner so their radicals fund other radicals to annoy the US.

Like a scorned lover slashing your tires.

Near as I can tell anyway.

Both countries are fucked up and likely to screw the U.S. over. The mid-east are like kids when they get military power. All the smaller military countries just be quite and play nice while those with rising power threaten everybody and eventually attempt to conquer there neighbors.

Hard to choose between Iran, a country with a lunatic president who threatened to destroy Israel (a ally of the U.S.) or Saudi Arabia who has a well known soft spot for terrorism and religious radicalism. Which nutjob to back... hmm.

There is more to it than what it seems. Most of these arms are bought because of forced sales, and they buy them as a way of returning the favour and keeping the west happy and shut. Perfect pawns for the Military Industrial complex.

These countries had money before the first gulf war and after that aswell. You never saw this kind of spending on arms before.

The US lobbies hard, very hard here for the arabs to buy their weapons. In the end the profiteers really dont care about good or bad they are just looking for a sale.

Politics is a very dirty game indeed.

It's a self-serving circle of deception and cash.

The Saudi's fund whabbi based terror groups and radical Islam. To keep the US sweet they buy a load of weapons they will never use and thereby keep US politicians from really calling them out.

Thats just half a circle. You forget to mention the other half. The USA and "allies" make sure the shit bucket is kept well churned by blind support and massive funding to the Israelis. Kinda also blances books a bit tallied.

After all a peacefull middle east is of real no use to them.

No its alright bud, wasn't expecting to have any kind of reasonable debate without getting into cheapshots like this. After all thats all you got cheap shots and nothing else.

After all any negative mention of Israel is strictly taboo and offlimits. Don't blame you. Thats been the company lines for decades now.

Although I've been bombarded with more anti Israeli propaganda than you can imagine. I am still willing to all hear sides of the situation and make up my own mind.

Something I suggest you do aswell.
