I am totally pro-choice and i have to agree with the fact that you cannot argue that a fetus is not human and therefor abortion is not murder and then in the same breath argue that it deserves dignity and respect. If "it" deserves anything, then it is no longer an "it", it is a he or a she.

As for the furnace that provides heat, this is a consequence of design. Would it be more appropriate to make a furnace with a cooling system so there is no net temperature change and with maximum inefficiency?

As a society we have chosen to accept that up until a certain period fetuses are not humans, this is what I believe and why I can justify abortion. If I didn't believe that, then there is no getting around the fact that it is murder. It's an either A or B thing, there shouldn't be a grey area to spare feelings "just in case".

Moreover, the human body has a negative caloric value due to it's high water content so the idea that the fetus' are being used to heat anything is just sensationalism. There is a high degree of energy required to convert the water in the system into steam.

I'm mostly pro-choice too, but this should have been covered a long time ago by a formal procedure to prevent this kind of insensitive disposal. Cremation, yes. Just have the fucking brains, if for nothing else than to make the pro-lifers shut up, not to dispose of the remains in the same load as a bunch of used medical tubing, soiled bedsheets, catheters that just got removed from someone's dick, and bacteria-covered tongue depressors. This is not something that required a genius to figure out, not with the massive negative reaction that someone in the system would have known would surely happen when the pro-lifers/press found out about it. It's about as grotesque as having to dispose of the bodies of death camp prisoners by digging a ditch and pushing the corpses into the hole with a bulldozer.

How does a "waste to energy plant" work anyway? Does it like convert to carbon, or turn solid to gas, or what? Scienc-y minds want to know, cause you know...global warming. Wouldn't it be hilarious if you couldn't get the watermelon people to manage outrage over dead babies, but then they heard it was about converting babies to greenhouse gas, so they freaked.

Cause the article says, "Ten NHS trusts have admitted burning foetal remains alongside other rubbish while two others used the bodies in ‘waste-to-energy’ plants which generate power for heat. "
