With the irony being that Tim Curry is probably gay in real life but wouldn't meet the new standards. He wouldn't get the role today. He'd be lynched outside the theatre by the activists on opening night. Same thing happened last year when ScarJo was going to produce and star in an independent film about a male-to-female tranny. The real trannies and the SJW machine flipped out that a straight woman was going to be playing one of them. They demanded that ScarJo withdraw from her own film and the role be recast. The film died altogether when ScarJo pulled out completely, including her money which set them off even more with some of them demanding that she finance it anyway as some kind of punishment for offending them. The only high point of the entire tantrum was at the end when ScarJo gave an angry and insincere "apology" that couldn't have been anything but an obvious fuck-off to the lot of them.
There was actually something even dumber that occurred in this extremist world of gender politics when it overlapped with ethnic politics on the new Batwoman TV series. Ruby Rose got hired as Batwoman, which makes sense as she's gay just like the Kate Kane/Batwoman character. The insanity erupted over religion of all things because apparently Kate Kane is Jewish but Ruby Rose isn't. As such the hysteria-machinery went into high-froth mode again, with the vitriolic demand that Rose withdraw and be replaced by a Jewish lesbian actress.
They're now fighting over the religion of comic book characters. These are the sorts of thing these dullards with far too much free time on their hands are doing with their lives. Just when you thought they couldn't get any more retarded.....
