Reporters are not stenographers to the party platform. It's not news. If you want the platform to be covered it needs to be relevant to the narrative the media wants to play up for ratings. Then they will be more than happy to spin what ever you want to pedal to the masses.

Well they hit a ew low last election. Every other candidate was questioned about an actual issue. Paul was only questioned about internal party problems and her accusation of the Bloc. Not even a question about Atwin crossing the floor to the Libs.
And they certainly were able to repeat the Tory's 'UNECCESSARY ELECTION' line even more than the Conservative tv ads did.

And you wonder why the major political parties don't even bother to talk about their platforms. When the Bloc leader got into a back and forth with the green leader and tried to make the whole thing about defending French is not racism did he not get a bump? And why ask the cons about their platform when they don't even believe in it or their leader themselves? The only thing that drives them is Trudeau bad.

Which is what this all boils down to, it not the leaders, platforms or even the parties that are the reason policies lose out in elections, it's the people. If they can't hold their interest what is the point? You can only have one or two major policies in an election, anything more is too much for the public to handle as they simply do not have the bandwidth. Concentration of force is the only way elections are won and when you dilute your message you are dammed to fail.

Which IS what reporters should be asking, not devolving into Infotainment puppets. THey were implicit in aiding the politicians avoid real issues.

That is not the responsibility of the media to spoon feed the public. At some point the public needs to ADULT.

It's their responsibility to report not pass on the spoonfed pablum they're handed.
Unfortunately the Trump crowd and anti-vaxxers have turned the term 'investigative reporting' into a synonym for 'outright lies'.

No, he played them like an instrument, but some of them were already tuned to his chords. They did that themselves.

There are still some actual media organizations out there.
