Of course there would have to be safeguards. You help somebody to die, the onus should be on you to prove it, otherwise you're guilty of murder. That should give any assisters pause to make sure they're covered. For many people, the only assistance they would need is information on how to do it painlessly rather than somebody else being physically involved.

Because what you are saying is bs. You say that "all people want is know how to do it painlessly." That info is out there. What people want, is to have an opportunity to die in dignity. You cannot die in dignity without someones help. You need someone to give you that overdose of drugs. Then you can say goodbye to your loved ones, go to sleep, and never wake up (like we do with our pets when we euthanise them), without having them to think about it. You want a (mental) healthcare worker (doctor, nurse, both) there, to be there.

I don't know that much about what the most painless way to off yourself is. But for many people, they can probably manage on their own - even if it involved injection. But I have no problem is assistance is required, as long as the person giving the assistance has the evidence to prove they weren't murdering the person.
