herbie herbie:
So now they're gonna make sure it's at the market max the day before any new tax hits, so you get to say ouch the loudest, blame it all on the tax, and then be ever so thankful when it goes back down a nickel....

Or, you could practice what you preach and not buy as much gas?

Stop buying gas for a day or two every time it goes up, and it will stop going up.

One reason we'll go the grandson's grad in Alberta in the Saturn instead of the Jeep.
2nd reason is his Mom's ass is too fat to get in the back seat of the Jeep... :D

Amazing how they have pretty much the same size engine, and the 15 yr old Saturn SUV gets 50% better mileage.

But if you stop buying as much gas then the tax revenue for the government goes down and they'll just have to raise fuel taxes to make up for the shortfall in all the vote-buying social programs they fund via your wallet.

We had the same shit writ huge down here.

They told us to conserve water and when we did they raised prices/taxes to make up for lost revenue.

They told us to conserve electricity and when we did they raised prices/taxes to make up for lost revenue.

They imposed taxes on tobacco to encourage people to stop smoking but used those diminishing revenues to fund new social programs and now they want to tax new things to keep funding the programs.

No, sorry. It's getting past yellow vest time and starting to become black rifle time.

The gas companies figured this out a long time ago. You are still going to drive just as many kilometers so need to buy just as much gas as before. The fact you wait 2 days does not change your avereage kilometers per day so you still buy the same amount of gas.

Even if you could get everyone to agree to not buy any gas on Tuesday the Wednesday sales will be so much higher to make up the difference.

It is not a bargaining tool.

Buy an EV or PHEV. They're already shitting bricks over those.

A friend here just bought one of the Mitsubishi PHEV SUVs for his wife. They haven't filled it up since they brought it to town before Christmas. 38km on just battery gets her to work and back, plug it in overnight... they live on the other side of the lake. Told him he best take it for a run before the gas goes stale...

herbie herbie:

Until someone can show me the changes required to make this happen in the local building codes, it's just wishful thinking that some other government is going to have to deal with.
