Total bullshit, how the hell does getting police out of the gay pride parade advance the cause of BLM? If anything it creates more of a separation between the police and the community. It's not like the people in the parade are actually "policing" anything.
The only "gain" in all this is that they have people talking about BLM again but I'm not sure this is a gain at all since it just paints them like a bunch of bullies and most of the talk is negative.
I wonder if they will try that crap next week at the Caribana parade where it would actually seem more fitting. I doubt it. Plus with Caribana's history of violence I'd say police are a welcomed fixture.
I completely understand the BLM's prominence in the US and why some people see it as necessary but I think it's adoption north of the border is little more than grandstanding and completely unnecessary.
There's issues in TO between blacks and police as well - I can see an organization like BLM trying for change there. But as usual, the over the top numbnuts take over and just turn it to shit. Same deal with the Panthers and Malcolm X, et al. They had a good point at first, but start with the violence and you're just going to alienate most people. I predict that BLM will just shoot themselves in the foot here, since there's way more gays than blacks, and they are the up and coming victim/status group at the moment.
