PublicAnimalNo9 PublicAnimalNo9: OnTheIce OnTheIce: PublicAnimalNo9 PublicAnimalNo9: And you call andy retard? . Yeah, an ounce of weed in my possession at most will land me a fine. Growing the stuff could land me in prison. Cheaper? Dream on McDuff. How many times have police been into your home? How many times have the cops dropped by for tea, scones and a house inspection? I'm guessing never. Keep guessing OnTheIce OnTheIce: The chances of you growing a couple plants in your home and getting caught is about as likely as my dick growing to 12" by the end of the day.
Full blown grow-ops often last years in a neighborhood without detection. All it takes is one rat or one person that has a beef with you. It's a moronic argument. OTI is all hot to keep pot illegal but then argues for the police turning a blind eye. Doesn't make sense. If pot is such a scourge that it should be kept illegal, then we shouldn't be encouraging the cops to turn a blind eye to it. We're getting into stupid territory here about why users don't grow their own and whether you can bet busted for it. Nobody can prove one way or another that legalizing pot will have a net benefit effect until we try it. All indications are that it would make things better. Don't see how it can get any worse.

andyt andyt: OnTheIce OnTheIce: andyt andyt: Too much effort would be my guess. If you only smoke once in a while, are you going to invest in growing equipment? Same reason that most beer and wine drinkers don't make their own either. At $200 an ounce current price, you'd think most pot users would grow their own. Wouldn't that actually solve all the problems - if everybody grew for their own little need, so much for gangs completely.
What do you and OTI think the reason is? And OTI, you realize Brenda is for pot legalization, don't you? But I guess you'll jump on anybody's point to help your cause? So pot smokers support gangs cause they're too lazy? You said Brenda had an excellent point. So let's hear your reason why you think it's an excellent point and why you think pot users don't grow their own? And how does that back up your argument in any way? I've given you one very good reason. Guess you're too stupid to take it in, but let me give it one more try: If you smoke pot occasionally, are you going to invest in growing equipment to grow way more than you can consume, when it's so easy to buy on the street? Are you going to exposes yourself for getting busted when you know the cops will let you skate if you're only holding a little bit of weed?

Lemmy Lemmy: My Grand National would totally smoke that piece of shit Dodge. Well, you're in a lot better position to answer Gunnair than I am, since you smoke pot and I don't. Bottom line seems to me, pot smokers support gangs because pot is illegal. Here was my answer, which, Gunnair, eager to stir the shit as usual, ignored: $1: Yep, pot heads could save a lot of money of they grew their own. What does that have to do with legalization or not? Maybe like you say they're too lazy, or as PA points out they don't want to get busted for it or as I point out there's no point if you're only smoking the occasional joint. More likely all three of those reasons plus many others apply. What that's got to do with the discussion? But I really can't speak to the motivation of every pothead. OTI, or TOE (the other Eureka), with his expertise and experience, I'm sure has the final answer.

raydan raydan: I'm just sick of the fact that we have to make laws to protect people from themselves. Don't blame the producers, don't blame the dealers... blame the idiots that abuse. Ah, the old ethic of personal responsibility. How quaint. People can't be expected to make these kind of decisions themselves, Raydan. That's what government is for.

No, I support gangs because I frequent Asian rub'n'tugs. But I grow my own pot and am, therefore, totally off the gangster-grid when it comes to that vain attempt to legislate morality.

PublicAnimalNo9 PublicAnimalNo9: OK OTI, you've managed to "eureka" the thread twice now. Put up or shut up. Sure.... I grew up in Scarborough, now part of Toronto. Surrounded by gangs, guns and dealers. I've seen gangs jump from one money making source to another...from selling drugs to intimidating local businesses to copy debit cards from unsuspecting customers. I've seen these people take construction paper, soak it with fertilizer and sell it as acid back in the 90's. In the last 10 years, I've seen these people get into the porn businesses running these various "tube" sites. The mob and gangs evolve as time goes on and various money streams dry up. While marijuana is a large income source currently for some of the gangs, it's by no means their only source of income nor will it be the end of these groups it it becomes legalized.

I just figure that if we let the idiots do what they do best, we'd be giving out way more Darwin awards. The advantage to that would be that we'd actually be strengthening the gene pool and in the long run, we may not need any more "idiot" laws.
