DrCaleb DrCaleb: martin14 martin14: DrCaleb DrCaleb: We may not be ready for that kind of sacrifice, but it still must be made. We've had inklings that this was going to be a problem for almost 100 years now. Time to pay the piper. If not us, then what the next generation has to do will be that much harder.
No, the next generations will be busy paying even higher taxes for all the money we throw away today. It will be even worse for them. Survival is worth it. I'm sure they'd rather pay to clean up the last generation's mistakes, and be around to say 'I told you so'. You continue to tun around like a headless chicken, claiming we will solve it all. We, as Canada, aren't solving Jack Shit, and you know it. You should think about taking the whining show on the road, like to India or China.

If everyone solves what is in their backyard, the problem is solved. See? It's not a difficult concept.

See? It's not a difficult concept. This is funny, I guess you're spending way too much time with computers, because you forgot what human nature is really all about. But, you first, your backyard, since you care so much. Time to stop racing.

DrCaleb DrCaleb: I consider it all. You might want to take your own advice. The temperature has been hotter, but it's never become so hot so fast in the temperature record.
Temperature would not be a problem if we were not here to make it so bad. It's not inevitable, and it's our fault. None of that is even disputed by science.
Are we moving along the inevitable faster than normal. Yes. We've heard this all before. All this doom and gloom. So much so, Florida is supposed to be under water right now and the name of the cause has been changed to 'climate change' rather than global warming because the whole 'warming' thing just wasn't working. The 'science' for those on both sides of the fence is in it's infancy. Not to say that it's right or wrong, but when you make projections and estimations it's tough.

I know just what human nature is about, and so long as everyone does nothing, everyone can point fingers and say 'see, they are doing nothing so I don't have to do anything'. You can't sit there and do nothing, and try to tell me what you think I should do to make up for your inaction. You'll also notice, never do I try to tell anyone else what they should be doing, only what I do and why. As I said earlier, my little 4 bangers make far less difference environmentally than does my eating meat. I go for the bigger targets. I take the bus to work, I use manual lawnmowers, I re-insulated the attic . . . I do what I can. You don't get to tell me that it's not good enough for you, when you abhor the entire concept! When you trade the Harleys for Vespas, then you get to talk down to me.

Sorry man, but Miami is already working on raising the entire city higher because of climate change. http://wlrn.org/post/idea-mitigate-risi ... ntire-cityEvery land mass will act differently depending on geology. I notice no one commented on the first page why those silly Tuvaluese would dig a graveyard under 2 feet of water. But their island is under 2 feet of water in places. I really hate going over the same information again and again, but I hope one day the light bulb will turn on.

$1: Across South Florida, beaches are eroding, and water supplies are getting saltier. Over the next 50 years, the Coxes explain, waters along the coast will rise by a minimum of nine inches to two feet. Most of Miami-Dade County is less than six feet above sea level. Altogether, the risk of flooding is tremendous: “Miami’s exposed property will far outstrip that of any other urban area, reaching almost $3.5 trillion by the 2070s.” It’s very possible that large swathes of the area will be uninhabitable by then, and that sometime after 2100, it will all be underwater. http://www.citylab.com/politics/2015/11 ... et/415044/

You aren't doing what you can, racing is a completely non necessary pastime. You make some token choices, and pat yourself on the back, thinking you are doing something. But the reality is different. I'm not talking down to you, I am pointing out the hypocrisy of what you do. If you really believe this global warming, you should be doing even more, much more than supporting the waste of EVERYONE else's tax money. Really, it is time now for you to put up or shut up. You've been shilling quite hard on this topic, it's just so funny that you won't touch your sacred cow either.

My running 71hp cars on a frozen lake twice a year can't complete with the methane generated by your lunch. You point out the hypocrisy of what I don't do, but none of the credit for the things I do. Sorry, no. When you decide to get on the bandwagon, I'll take your opinions into consideration. Till then, they get their due consideration. None. ![Drink up [B-o]](./images/smilies/drinkup.gif)

ShepherdsDog ShepherdsDog: Why whatever we do in the West/Developed world about climate change is going to mean SFA$1: Particle readings hit 976 micrograms per cubic metre in Beijing suburb; safe level is 25 Which is exactly why, any deal without defined targets, methods to verify, and sanctions for those countries who don't reach targets, and doesn't include China, India and the US, won't be worth the trees killed to make the paper they write it on. Of course we all know whatever 'deal' is made, Justine will sign up to it, no matter the damage to the Canadian economy. Better hang on tight, it's a long ride down.
