There right, we need to put more of our teenagers in jail and levy $1000 against 13 year-olds.

Well of course they should, after all there's nothing criminal about charging $20 for a product that only costs $5.

Of course, they don't take shit into account like when you go buy Black Sabbath's Paranoid and the music on the CD turns out to be Led Zepplin IV.
Yes, it actually happened. The music store wouldn't take it back cuz it was "opened", and the company that produced it sure wasn't gonna give me my money back, so I had to spend basically $40 for a CD that really only costs $5.
Yeah, and we're the pirates

We're bad, we're bad, you know it, we're bad.....

Considering that some CD's/music packages have insane price tags, as well as music DVD's with the same hitch, I honestly don't see a big problem here.

I've downloaded certain songs only because I only liked that one particular song off the CD, and didn't want to buy the whole album, or, wanted a single before it
hit the stores.

To the music industry: STOP BEING COMMIE BASTARDS!!!!!

Who forced you to pay $20? Here's a simple solution. You don't like the cost, go without. Nothing justifies taking someones product without compensating them.

Guess what? iTunes, or other online sellers will allow you to buy one song from an album. I guess you will be relieved now to know you can buy a single song and not freeload.

Well at least this guy from Montreal who shared theater movies on the Internet killed himself. I guess the industry tells themselves "one done, a lot to go".

Ya know what I don't like smart guy? I don't like plunking down $20 bucks to NOT get the music that was represented on the fucking CD cover and being told, "Tough".
Got a simple solution for that??
If that's the recording industry's attitude, then tough shit for them if I download my tunes.
See, Led Zepplin IV is a great album, don't get me wrong, but if I wanted to BUY Zep IV, I would'a BOUGHT Zep IV. But considering I already had it in vinyl, cassette and cd formats, and needed to REPLACE my Paranoid cd, I really didn't need another copy. And I sure didn't need to get fucked out of $20 for it either!
When someone essentially tells me to go fuck myself, you honestly think I'm gonna give a rat's ass about THEIR problems?

I imagine he had more going on in his head if he killed himself over a copyright conviction.

You know what smart guy? Your trouble was the fault of the store not the recording industry. And it still doesn't justify piracy. Obviously they aren't going to stop you from stealing music, but don't cry about it when you get a bill in the mail.

Actually he died of overdose by morphine, something that was given to him in jail. He overdosed after he served his sentence.

I guess he was not really the type of guy to go to jail.

So he didn't kill himself. Ya jail sucks, there's an easy solution to that too. Don't commit crimes.

Copyright infringement is not really the same crime as rape, beating or murder. It's a no victim crime. Maybe a big fine, a no entrance to theaters for X years and X years of probation would have been more appropriate for those kind of crimes. The guy was a lonely computer geek.

Personally, I don't think I could survive (at least mentally) in jail.
