A simple solution would be to try and make it so immigrants move more into rural areas and less into the largest cities of the country (which already are large enough already). Now how to do such a thing without damaging people's rights nor cutting down the number of immigrants too much is a tough question, and I don't really have an answer.

Maybe try the to convince the "rural" employers immigrants are not a problem to hire?
We are not going to the big city, but the problem in the smaller communities is, that employers are not familiar with immigration laws and paperwork, and are a little scared to start it up. So when you choose to move to a small community, as PR, there is no problem, but to find an employer who is willing to go through the hassle, that is a different thing.
I guess education will do a lot here...

I agree, lower the numbers or create a system that disperses immigration into rural Canada.
I don't want Canada to look like a trainwreck.

I think we need a Royal Commission or something that allows Canadians a say on immigration, levels , countries of origin etc. After all, it affects us more than rich politicians.
Immigration should benefit Canada, not cause problems, strains on health-care, housing, increase crime etc. How many recent immigrants are causing havoc in the GTA?
There are lots of good immigrants (I'm one, trust me!) but it pisses me off seeing newcomers force their archaic views on women, gays, religion and freedom of speech onto the rest of Canada.
Pisses me off even more seeing gangs who have just got off the boat causing fear and mayhem in our cities. We have enough Canadian born idiots, don't bring more in from elsewhere.
Time for some real public input, not just the PC shite we hear from special interest groups and politicians.

A lower rate of 0.75 / 1000 is a good start point.
Let our cities pick up and reblance. Untill immigrants match the level for average Canadians flooding the nation with them is a failure on our part to offer the best Canadian life to all seekers.
No underclass in Canada please.

I say that the government make it a condition of immigration that imigrants spend the first 5-10 years in lower population/growth areas the Maritimes or Sask/Manitoba. Keep them out of the top 5 cities and let others grow...

I think they are already trying to do that. I've heard that there is less limitations for certain provinces, especially in the case of a work visa.

$1: There is no reason why Canada should have far more immigration than any other country. Canada's existing population is younger than those of most other developed countries and its ratio of working age people to retired ones is higher. If Canada reverted to its traditional, more moderate, immigration program, it could continue to enjoy the benefits of immigration while sparing its cities the problems of unmanageable growth. Immigrants would benefit too. Their economic performance has been in free fall over the past 15 years.
Interesting.
It's bad here in Vancouver as well. It seems that there is a high majority of immigrants from Asia, but not from other areas of the world.

That is true. But you said the high majority of immigrants are coming from Asia and less coming from other parts of the world. Why would other people from the world not want to come here? Could it be due to it now being Indo-China Jr?

They do, but "white" people fit in directly. Get a job at a "normal" workplace instead of all getting together. Asian people have the habbit of sticking together, and giving eachother jobs. They don't integrate that easily.
