... Unless it's a Muslim with 4 wives, in which case the who lot gets the gas chamber, right? ;)

Okay, that was so over the top I laughed!

BeaverFever BeaverFever:
Seriously I'm not aware of anyone kids being taken away because of poly-what'ever and AFAIK polyamoury is not criminalized -only bigamy.

BeaverFever BeaverFever:
Where you do hear stories its with Mormons etc is because they're marrying underage girls.

This is a logical fallacy. If it's illegal to marry an underage girl then the Mormons are therefore not marrying underage girls because such a marriage cannot legally be recorded and is void and not a marriage. They're still boning underage girls, but they're not legally marrying them...a point you illustrate in your next paragraph.

BeaverFever BeaverFever:
Bigamy is an offence due to the fraudulent aspects: you've obtained a marriage certificate from the state entitling you and your spouse to special married privileges (tax deductions, survivor pension etc) but it is issued on the a basis that neither of you already have these privelages with other spouses So bigamy is fraud.

Prosecute bigamy if it happens, for sure.

I kind of suspected this would be the next taboo to drop following gay marriage. It's getting super-trendy in Vancouver. I'm on this dating site where there are tones of polyamorous couples. Not really my speed.

Poly, pedo, and incest are the next social frontiers and I expect all will be legal to some extent or another by the end of the next decade if not sooner.

I think or hope it will take longer than that for the last two.

Anytime we start discussing relationships outside of Bart's comfort zone, he brings out the pedo and incest argument... makes no sense but he's harmless.

Me, I couldn't care less what happens in other people's bedrooms... as long as everybody involved is a consenting adult... but personally, I'm a one-on-one kind of guy.

Not sure I understand your point. Even im the link you provided, the stories mentioned child abuse, such as:

$1:
The children were seized from the ranch in early April after authorities received a report that a 15-year-old girl married and had a child with a 50-year-old man, which is illegal in the state.

You can only claim the married tax deduction FOUR times under the Article XVI sect 9 Muslim exemption. However if you have 19 wives and one gets pregnant, they ALL get one year of EI for maternity leave and so does the husband.

If underage marriage is illegal then these people are not legally married because that requires the complicity of a County Clerk/Recorder to register the marriage.

They're cohabitating but they are not legally married.

And if they are then I want the fucking county clerk arrested and prosecuted for facilitating child abuse.

Poly is already working its way through the courts and it will inevitably be legalized because the arguments against traditional marriage are as valid for gay marriage as they are for polygamous marriage.

On pedo the start is to normalize it and de-list it as a psychological aberration.

Pedophiles: The next normal

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/201 ... xt-normal/

With incest (and necrophilia 8O ) the push to normalize it is already on.

$1:
The youth wing of the Swedish Liberal party has filed a motion to legalize necrophilia and incest.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... enior.html

Forty years ago it was considered utter nonsense to talk about homosexuals working as school teachers, getting married, joining the military, etc. and yet here we are.

I know better than to just say something "will never happen" because I've heard the same thing said of so many things in my lifetime only to see them happen in my lifetime.

Edit: Hell, Ray, just a year ago you would have chided me for proposing that poly would be legalized and yet here you are silent on that one because you know it's true.

Obviously they're not married in the eyes of the law. The fact that they're claiming to be "married" isn't the crime. Sex with a minor is the crime, their self-proclaimed "marriage" is beside the point.

I just don't care for an illegitimate marriage to be called a marriage. It also adds an air of false legitimacy to what is really nothing different than what the Moslem grooming gangs are doing to young girls in Europe.
