Nice try, but it is possible to be vehemently pro-Canadian while maintaining a critical eye on the military.

No, most of them are okay, but, let's face it: The military is the kind of setting that tends to attract more than its share of trash.

This is pretty low even for you.

Like who? I have never seen a post where you applaud the military; you only seem to spurn it at every opportunity?

..just not those Canadians who volunteered to fight for our nation.

A bit of a necropost but streaker, I'm trash that joined the military and I totally agree!
As Lord Wellesly the Duke of Wellington said about the British Army:

"I don't know what effect these men will have upon the enemy, but, by God, they frighten me."

But we can kick arse.

This is an ignorant comment, but I'm not interested in joining in with the crowd and attacking you as un-Canadian, or whatever.

I do think it's important to point out why you are wrong in saying that though.

By saying "Another one of Canada's finest" and later talking about the "trash" that join the military, you're implying that soldiers are somehow more prone to this type of behaviour than others.

However, the article clearly states that 11 000 Canadian soldiers have rotated through Cyprus after returning from Afghanistan. Yet this is the first time I've heard of such an incident.

Considering the overwhelming majority of soldiers are young males, statistically, the demographic group most responsible for committing crimes, I'd say 1:11000 is a pretty good ratio.

In fact, I would argue that's a lower rate of criminal activity than one finds among the general population.

So perhaps you should think things through before posting inflammatory nonsense.
