I read on the Dutch news page nu.nl that it is a matter of National Security now. Even without the 5 people he killed, he would face a max sentence of 30 years. Add those 5 murders, and with a little luck, he will never walk free. He has a braininjury from the crash though, and they don't know if he makes it.

Muslims in the netherlands are having a hard time intergrating into Dutch culture. Hence they want the dutch to adapt to them and not the other way around. Just a way of stating it right off the bat I suppose it wasn't an angry muslim.

I can see it though... When Pim Fortuyn was murdered, it was a white male. When Theo van Gogh was murdered, it was a Muslim, 2nd generation immigrant. In that case, religion had everything to do with it.

This was an attack at the monarchy. Half of the population is an immigrant, 2nd or 3rd generation. I am glad they mentioned it. If not, we all would have wondered wtf is up with "the immigrants" or "the muslims".

Age I can see a point in reporting to dismiss whether it was an old person who mistook the brake for the gas (I guess). I suppose Dutch can be relevant to indicate that he was a national but they didn't know where in the Netherlands he's from. Your point about the vehicle description is moot, at best. However describing his race is completely irrelevant unless somehow he got away and the newspaper was giving a description about who the public should be looking out for. So I'm just trying to find out what the point of including it would be.

Dutch doesn't mean national. Dutch means he is a citizen. White means he is a born citizen. Or they would have stated "white Dutch male, 38, of German/Polish/Canadian decent".

All they are trying to do here, is NOT make people blame muslims, Turks, Morrocan, Pakistani or something. The murder of Theo van Gogh, and all the other muslim-threats are pretty fresh.
