raydan raydan:
There are jokes about every single group of people on the planet, and most of those jokes could be considered to be anything from slightly insulting to racist and demeaning. I don't hear Newfoundlanders, Scots and Mexicans complaining about the jokes.

That's because the vast majority of people are capable of shrugging their shoulders at stupid quips and don't behave that a joke is literally the equivalent to burning a cross on their front lawn. At least that's how people used to be, before some very cunning characters managed to monetize outrage manufacturing for the twin purposes of profit for themselves, as well as to move "the revolution" that much further ahead.

Say what you want. I'm not much but I'm still tough enough not to feel the need to have you kicked off the internet or fired from your job in retaliation. Or go full-blown OCD and rummage through all your posts from ten years ago hoping to catch you in some sort of "A-HA! GOTCHA, BIGOT!" moment.

How many Quebecois does it take to screw in a lightbulb anyway?

Being kicked off the Internet would probably be a good thing. As for my job, is "retired" a job?

Then you're lucky to be old and not subject to the ideals of the current generation of youngsters, where total social & career obliteration as punishment for alleged transgressions against their ideology is now regarded as entirely appropriate. People like the comedians who get death threats or have their shows cancelled for "not being nice enough" aren't so lucky. Or the college professors who literally get driven off of campus by rabid mobs and lose their entire careers in a heartbeat simply for doing their job.

But wait, I was told by some very nice people that cancelling isn't a real thing.....

Thanos Thanos:
Why was Rachel Dolezal destroyed for pretending she was black? If she truly believes that she's black and "wasn't hurting anyone" then isn't it some bad bigotry and hatred to subject her to by saying she isn't what she believes herself to be? Doesn't she deserve some major apologies, especially from the black community, for not being accepted and tolerated?

She wasn't destroyed because she identified as black. She was destroyed because she took away a position from a person who would have had a totally different experience growing up and moving through society than a white person, and the head of the black focused organization should have that experience behind them to do that job. She was unqualified, and pretended to be qualified.

Personally, I didn't get the hate, but then I have the privilege of not having to experience society from a black perspective. She wasn't destroyed for who she was, she was destroyed for pretending to be something she wasn't.

Unlike LGBTQ2+ people, who are only trying to be who they are in a society that resists them being like that.

Wrong for Dolezal to take a position away from an actual black person, but not wrong for "Lia" Thomas to take away a position from an actual female. Woman Of The Year remains open to all genders. Got it loud & clear, nice person.

BTW, I absolutely comprehend your side. Understanding is not the issue here. I know entirely what you're saying and what you're advocating. I understand it. And I also reject it in total. You might need to remember this, that understanding a position does not equal acceptance of it as a social or cultural good.

I watched that earlier and Stewart makes some great points as he usually does. However….it’s predicated on the fact that someone is having an honest discussion and may be misinformed. His solution doesn’t work when someone doubles down on their stupidity or is a bad actor to begin with.

I assumed you got it. At least to a point. You might, and likely do, accept that black people have rights. You probably also accept that women have rights. Many people that didn't have rights in the 'good old days' now have rights. But why do you draw the line at LGBTQ2S?

That is what you have to ask yourself.

I accept LGB rights in total so you should really leave them out of the scenario altogether. Intimate relations between adults aren't in question. The better question for the L&G today should be why the trans are so determined to convince them that homosexuality doesn't even exist and that those who are L&G are just a different type of trans. Not sure what was worse for the L&G. The old days when the church types told them they had no rights at all and were all doomed to hell, or today with the trans & their allies now telling them that who they are doesn't even exist anyway.

I am under no obligation to either fully believe or to pay insincere lip service to some else's delusions in order to make them feel comfortable. I've maintained all along that trans is nothing but a mental/emotional disorder that needs to be treated with intense psychiatric counselling, and it shouldn't be encouraged. Self-identification without medical assessment should be legally abolished, especially in the wake of far too many women being victimized by violent non-op trans "women" who managed to fool our ridiculous & incompetent government authorities that they're something other than what's on their birth certificate (and/or on their criminal record).

I'm not going along with any of this. It's wrong and it's socially catastrophic. You'll just have to get used to it. Better yet be ready to become deeply disappointed five to ten years from now when a literal tsunami of de-transitioning occurs and the governments become financially & legally liable for caving in to the current trans extremism of today. Just like happened with the residential schools, and with far too many other examples of the easily-fooled governments going head-first into something genuinely awful, everyone from generations to come will end up paying the price as punishment for someone else's reckless social agenda.

Resistance, opposition, and dissent never stops and never will. End of story.

Well, firstly, you state that self-assessment without a medical assessment should be illegal; but to start you make a physiological assessment that the condition doesn't exist. Are you qualified to make that assessment?

Secondly, the rest is the stuff you tried to get us to believe, but couldn't provide any proof that it happened. So your belief structure is based on things other people have convinced you of.

And why would we be disappointed when people 'de-transition'? [huh] I think you are just trying to fling shit at a wall and see what sticks. I think what is more likely is that your belief structure will one day collapse when you do some actual research into the phenomenon of transgender conditions and realize how wrong you have been.

Not even close to the end of the story. ;)
