Test or development labs usually care who comes in. And if I recall the article, Huewei went out of their way to get their people into that lab to take part in the research T-Mobile was doing, presumable to steal secrets. And it was a very secure lab.

When buddy walked out with the robot, the company was already suspicious as Huewei employees had already had many failed attempts to access the robots schematics. He didn't make if very far with it.
