Unsound Unsound:
No one said there is anything wrong with being PR. If you're happy with that status and unwilling or unable to do the things necessary to become a citizen, that's your business.
Thank you. I agree. Good thing is, Canada can kick me out if I commit a crime that is bad enough. Canada can't kick criminals out who are naturalized citizens and gave up previous nationality.

Anyone who says you can't question things or have an opinion unless you're a citizen is a fool.

CKA consists of a whole lot of fools ;-)

I swore an oath, when I was a Peace Officer, I swore allegiance to the Queen and to her successors, and to uphold the laws of this nation. So yes, I have taken an oath.

Its not a shade of grey, its black or white, swear allegiance and be a citizen or don't. I couldn't care less. Just remember you came here, this is my country too, and these are my values and traditions you don't wish partake in.

This is Canada, you are entitled to your beliefs, I happen to disagree. I will support the institutions that make this Country one of the greatest places to live. Sorry if you don't.

Just as a counter, as a citizen that was born here, this is my country too. The values and traditions of some are not the values of all.

I would LOVE to see you supply any sort of logical argument that shows how the Queen makes Canada great today, and how without a King or Queen Canada would suffer.

A republic is NOT inline with mine or many of my friends ideals.

And a Monarchy isn't inline with most of my friends ideals. We like to think that merit is more important than parrents when it comes to stuff like who gets to run the government.

Actually I said if you have a problem with our values and traditions you should consider living elsewhere.

if you have such a problem with our Traditions and Values, absolutely leave.

The Queen of Canada is my queen. I echo the sediment that if you wish not swear allegiance to the Queen, then maybe Canada is not the right place for you.

this is what I said. Where do I say get the fuck out?

I was born here too. Its the traditions and history of this nation that make it great, the monarchy is a part of that history, so therefore...

what? the day to day is run by elected officials, not the monarchy. The Head of State du jour is Steven Harper... Not David Johnston

Who are you to decide what is the right place for whom?

Why is Canada 'not the right place' for anyone who, for whatever reason, does not want to swear allegiance to the Queen?

You're now saying that 'if you have a problem with our values and traditions and if you do not want to swear allegiance, Canada is not the right place for you' does NOT mean 'fuck off out of my country'?

I personally think a monarchy is an outdated institution that I think costs a lot of money and is solely ceremonial. I think that of ANY monarchy. Canadian, Dutch, Belgian, Norwagian, any.

I'm sure there are many Canadians who think similarly. Uh oh...

No, it means that if you have a problem with something as big as that, then maybe (which is the big word you are leaving out of your inference of what I wrote) you will not be happy here and perhaps you should look for a more compatible fit for you. but to you this means get the fuck out of my country. good job. I'm impressed with your ability to blow a pretty inoffensive statement and make it sound like I hate all immigrants.

No, only the ones who, for whatever reason, are not willing to become citizens.

I still don't get why you are to tell anybody they 'may or may not be happy here' ONLY because they do not want to take an oath.

Because its a requirement for citizenship. I wouldn't move to the states and not take the oath of allegiance when I wanted to be a citizen. The oath means you accept all the responsibility of being a citizen, isn't that fair? is it such an unfair request to ask you pledge allegiance to the nation you have chosen to be a citizen in?

Really, don't take the oath if you don't want to swear allegiance. simple as that.

It's a meaningless gesture that takes 5 seconds. Maybe it is time to abolish it but that isn't for the newbies to decide through the courts. If it really bothers you stay the fuck out of Canada.

Here is another one. Fuck off, right?

Exactly, thank you.

Because they may not like our value system here, if I went somewhere that was at odds with my beliefs I probably would not be very happy there.

Oh my god.
I never bitched about PR's.

Seriously, you need a hug.

My gripe was about people who bitch about swearing allegiance to the crown.

NEVER ONCE DID I MENTION PR's.
