I always figured he'd get killed by a human, ya know, for the irony. Poor guy, at least he died doing what he loved..he knew the risks. Rest In Peace...mate

Crikeys!

Feel sorry for Terri. The rest of the world finds out before she does. At least, like others have said, he died doing what he loved. Some people werent meant to die in their rocking chairs =(

I always thought he would die of cancer, or heart attack at age 90. Who knew that chasing wild animals to pin them down could be so dangerous?

Who knew so many would be so excited about it that there are 4 threads notifying us of his death.

Thanks for the good times Steve.

Very true in how he died doing what he loved. His death is sad yet his life work lives on...

I wonder if they have enough footage to finish the documentary, as his final work.

I can't belive this. I always thought he was going to be one of those people who lives forever (sort of like the chief engineer on duty at Chenobyl who took 10x the lethal amount of radiation and only died in the late 90's of a heart attack).

Don't fuck with stingrays or Jellyfish in AUstralia. Those things can kill. If you get stung by a Jellyfish in Australia, you have around 5 minutes left to live...

The MSM keeps bringing up the incident with his son and the crocodile. Steve Irwin dies leaving a great legacy and all the MSM can focus on is that one mistake which he later admitted was an error of judgement on his part..

Apparently these animals are normally fairly docile, I wonder in what way the animal was provoked, if any.

From BBC:
The flat, triangular stingray gets its name from the razor-sharp barb at the end of its tail, coated in toxic venom.

But the animal only uses this weapon defensively when it feels threatened or is stepped on.

Attacks on humans are a rarity - only two other people are known to have died in Australia from a stingray attack.

Experts say that while painful, stingray venom is rarely lethal and it would have been the wound caused by the barb itself which proved fatal.
