I petition for their legality because I recognize that prohibition feeds the profit motive. It's a culture among teenagers that begins with drugs, and ends with prison and/or death. I really don't care who partakes in what, as long as they aren't recruiting other participants.

Recruiting? Like alcohol advertising?

Regardless, you brought up the argument "if it was my daughter".

What about if it was your son murdered? Would you want justice? Would you be justified in seeking revenge by either killing him or by killing his child, aka her?

No, not like alcohol advertising. "Drink responsibly" is not what the dealers are telling kids. If this was my 24 year old son who felt it was his right to sell crack and heroin to a 16 year old? I have no idea what I would do. Maybe I would throw my hands in the air and wonder where society went wrong like everyone else? Or maybe I'd do everything I could to stop it. Hard to say.

No.

It does suggest, however, that you have no first hand knowledge or experience to back up your judgement of a person's parenting abilities though.

Perhaps. Of course that also renders the opinions of those who haven't specifically dealt with this case and it particulars just as suspect to claim this guy was some fiend preying on an innocent girl who deserved what he got.

People are always going to feel different when its family and loved ones. That is why we need impartial courts to help us. I don't think you disagree with that. I don't even think you disagree with my belief this guy didn't deserve death.

You didn't particularly like my saying this guy was a failed parent when I have no kids of my own. Fair enough. I can see your point.

Its not hard to say you would not accept the killing of your son so lightly.

That all depends. If my son was someone who made the world miserable, I'd probably have to think about that.

I don't believe that. I think it this situation you would have blamed this asshole and his daughter for continuing to come back to your son and not allowed you the time you needed to help your son.

You might even blame this "vixen" for throwing herself at your boy and hooking her self on drugs voluntarily.

Sorry. but you saying you might probably shrug your shoulders and say "well he was a drug dealer so meh", just doesn't fit with reality.

For screwing a 16 year old and giving her drugs, no. He deserves to spend a hell of a long time behind bars.

The eight-year age gap between them, fucking retarded age of consent laws as written by Svend Robinson be damned, most likely strikes the majority of us as rather disgusting. The drug dealing and doing things like shooting her up with morphine when she was asleep merely confirmed his scumbagness.

Rail away all you want at us prudes, but apparently you're the only one around here who's willing to tut-tut this now (thankfully) deceased SOB's behavior.

Don't condone the behavior of either.

Curious that you have massive issue with the legal sex between two consenting adults (as morally repugnant as may be found with age difference) but you're cheer leading murder?

Just clarifying here.

I get a little irrational and giddy whenever a bad person gets what's coming to them.

With me it's a love affair with natural justice. Either that or the Jim Beam's finally kicking in. [drunk]

Then you agree that were the mother of the murdered boy go out and run down the children or wife of the man who murdered her son would be able to claim the same when you rendered a verdict over what she did?

Are you the parent of a murdered child? Who are you to judge me if you aren't?

The logical basis of that argument is "have you walked a mile in their shoes?"

Irrational, really? Didn't really notice ecept when Tea party, NDP, or prostitution get mentioned. Then you should consider changing your avatar to

What drugs were those?

Guess he sacrificed himself for her. Somebody brought up the Latimer case. I'm fully sympathetic to Latimer, but not this guy. I do believe he needs to be convicted. Of first degree murder really. At the same time, it would be nice if the judge had some leeway in sentencing. But that doesn't really fit with the Cons policy of having mandatory minimums for everything. Yet it bet it's Con symps who mostly defend this guy.

And after reading the last 8 pages, you may start to understand why.

See, some people post a rather vehement defense of the drug dealer, making him the most
important guy, rather than a 16 yr old girl being led astray with drugs, or a caring parent.

Kind of a sickening read.

I'm just wondering about the mentality of a man that, in this kind of situation can murder someone in front of his daughter, and then just leave her there with the body while he steps outside.
