Hmmmmmm.....
"See action in Afgani Land after the unit is fully trained in about four year."

Are we not supposed to be out of a combat role there in 2010-2011. or is there some other plan in Ottawa that is going to "extend" this mission once again.

Sounds kinda fishy to me.

Maybe they can start by cleaning up the gang problem in Halifax.

The only gang I'm aware of is the one that rolled into Halifax on their Harley's from Quebec. XD

It's our biggest export.

Gangs in and around Halifax:
Spry-Town Mafia based in the Spryfield area.
Bloods and Crips gangs based throughout Halifax and Dartmouth.

You do realize that we're still going to be doing training for ANA/ANP and reconstruction in the country after 2011, right? I don't know how you think we'll be training people or protecting the construction crews. Magic maybe?

How about bringing back the Airbourne and really sticking it in the Liberals eye? 8)

I like the setup now that they have attached an airbourne element to each of the major regiments instead. More options that way.

I thought that is why they created CSOR, to have an Airbourne like regiment again.

Fair enough, but bring back the Airbourne name and the Airbourne legacy just to cement the current troops into the history the old ones created. Despite what the media tried to portray the vast majority of them weren't all tattooed psychos with shitty officers who went collectively nuts in Somalia.

Granted, and I know of many ex-Airbourne that are very proud of their regiment. I think the whole topic is way too political for the military. Resurrecting the name will also reopen the wounds of Somalia, and the CF SOP will always be the same with anything they feel is disgracing:

-Dig a hole
-Cover it with dirt
-walk away and pretend it never happened

Do you blame the Conservatives for sending them in the first place?

That's the real problem, sending a gung-ho special ops unit on a peacekeeping mission and then acting surprised that some went bat-shit crazy (whether it was the new malaria drugs, the heat, or the environment is still being debated).

The problems weren't with the officers, it was with regular troopers who lit cars on fire, held hazing rituals and all sorts of other crazy shit. Hell, when the CO of the CAR stated the they weren't fit for overseas duty, he was sacked and replaced by someone else.

That just sounds like a fun weekend to me. I think it was the fact they had the same somolies ripping off supplies from them at night and they catch them and are ordered they can do squat and need to release them to the custody of the local authorities who just laugh and release the thieves right back into circulation. After 30-40 times of this in the same week by the same guy you would want to beat the shit of of him to just so your not seen as an easy mark. I mean why should the troops be upset? It's not like those supplies were their sole lifeline while they were in the middle of butt-fuck nowhere without backup. Oh, did I mention there was a civil war at the time?
