Aid Reaches Indonesian Quake Area, but Volcano's Activity Increases

$1:
Mount Merapi, a towering 9,800-foot volcano north of Yogyakarta, has been close to an eruption for nearly a month, but activity weakened in recent weeks. Volcanologists said Monday that the powerful quake destabilized a fragile dome at the mountain's peak, adding that collapse of the dome would set off a large eruption of lava, rocks and hot gas.

Things are going to get worse if and when the Volcano blows, hopefully Indonesians are evacuating the area best as they can before it's to late..

Mount St Helens had minor quakes today could it be connected to what's going on in Indonesia?

What I'm curious about is this: are the volcano and the Inodnesian quake related? I know from my meagre geological knowledge that earthquakes and volcanic activity are realted and I wonder if this is the case in Indonesia.

Generally one large shift will certainly produce regional realignments. Sometimes it takes years for things to settle.

Indonesia is one of the most geologically volatile areas in the world. And activity there would be most likely to spread around the Pacific rim.
