Yes, and pedestrians and joggers need to stop and look before they dart through a crosswalk. They need to signal their intentions to drivers. We also need to enforce J walking or walking when the do not walk light is flashing. Amazing how pedestrians don't even know how to use a crosswalk.
Motorcyclists as well ! you ever notice they need to ride side by side in a crowd of riders. Do they get lonely? And when one of their buddies gets ahead they start squeezing through traffic to catch up.
Bottom line, there needs to be more enforcement for everyone using the roadways.

Of course they should. They are operating a mode of transportation and should obey the same rules as motorized vehicles. As someone who mostly walks or busses everywhere I can say that cyclists can be dangerous to pedestrians too when they ignore lights/signs. It's even worse when they decide that zooming around on sidewalks is a good way to avoid riding on the street. Sure, better to knock down walkers than too piss off drivers.

I also agree they should be licensed and in order to get a license they should have to pass a written and road exam just like vehicle drivers to prove they at least understand the rules of the road. I've seen so many reckless bike riders that if they are not obeying signs could easily be the cause of accidents, thus should also have insurance to cover damage done to someone else by their own carlessness.

I don't know Ontario traffic laws, but here in Alberta, bicyclists are treated as motor vehicles if riding and pedestrians if walking their bikes (through a crosswalk). Call me petty, but I never stop for some jerk on a bike waiting to cross unless he/she is walking it across. I obey the rules when I'm out riding, so they can too.

That's correct, funny thing though most motorists don't understand the difference either and will slam on their brakes at the first sight of a cyclist at an intersection even when they're sitting on their bikes.

They absolutley should have to obey all road rules as any vehicle using the road does. I have almost been hit by cyclists while crossing the road because they dont even slow down most of the time.

Although I'm a cyclist myself - and have found the majority of drivers courteous, like stopping to let me pass when I have the right of way - I'm also sympathetic to drivers. I pulled up at a red light once and a cyclist came alongside and yelled that I shouldn't be that close to the sidewalk. He then smashed my rear view mirror with his handlebar and took off the wrong way down a one way street so I couldn't follow him.

Used to get really annoyed at dorks on bikes in the left turn lane. If they used the crosswalk and walked it across, they'd have the guaranteed pedestrian right-of-way.
Instead, they screw up left-turn traffic royally.
Of course in the last few years this has stopped. No point doing a left turn unless there's a left turn light. In the Lower Mainland, twenty more cars keep coming, running the yellow and even the red at the intersections. Then the cross-traffic springs up within an inch of you if you're stuck in the intersection and starts honking. You can't move and neither can they, but they all seem more interested in being assholes than in getting anywhere.

In BC legally you must fallow all traffic signs.

Huummm they are required by law to do it. I think the fine for not stopping at a stop sign or a red light is about 125$ (Montreal).

There's an interesting Supreme Court case from BC (the name escapes me) where a cyclist ran a stop sign and the police demanded to know his name so they could give him a ticket. He said "eat me" or words to that effect. The cops arrested him for Obstruction and it went all the way to the SCC.

Their answer? Cyclists have to identify themselves to get tickets or they go to jail for obstruction.
