DrCaleb DrCaleb:
I did a little experiment once. I took some of the anti-refugee memes infecting some of my friends (well, one in particular) Facebook posts, and tried to trace back the origin of a few of them.
Some came from neo-nazi sites, but many came from you-know-who. It has gone way beyond his site, but it started there. That's always been Ezras' shtick. Divide us, piss us off, then he has a group of people willing to listen to his BS.
Oh puh-lease. My political and social views 30 years ago were clearly centrist. My political and social views have changed very little in that time but the ALT-left have moved the goal posts so far now that my views (according to them) are just this side of Hitler's.
I'm pro-help the
legitimate refugees. I'm also pro-immigration. But because I believe in controlled immigration and border/national sovereignty, that makes me a far-right-wing extremist. Sorry Sport, but your argument of "it started with the Rebel" just don't wash.
I've seen all kinds memes too, from the ALT-left. And the vast majority of them are 100% pure grade horseshit. The media even got in on it as well. Remember when Harper was running for the second time and we were being warned that he was going to militarize the border and there'd be armed soldiers in our streets?
Meanwhile, a former head of the CBC admitted that the CBC does a fair bit of selective editing. I've seen it myself where they'll edit out details that are inconvenient to the narratives they push. But yeah, I'll trust the govt to decide which media outlets are truly objective and non-biased. While they're at it, maybe they have some prime swampland they can sell me too.
