I don't think you "let your wife" anything, HM... She can think for herself  And believe me, if a child is hungry, it will let you know, preferably in the middle of a mall :P

while i agree with you guys... some people find pictures like that offensive

Then don't be friends with that person, then you won't have to look at it... There IS a delete button...

Have you seen the pic as it is in the article? Really, what is offensive? I held my kids like that numerous times, without feeding them at that moment... I don't think there is a visable difference...

but some people are still offended by it...

its the same people that are offended by people saying merry christmas instead of happy holidays and a 2 second mention of God in a convocation speach

We shouldn't be dictated to by people that are offended by perfectly legal activities.

I suggest you have this discussion with the prospective mother of your children before you marry and have kids.

Try and find one that will put up with such draconian ultimatums... and good luck with that.

Comparing breastfeeding with giving birth is about the same as comparing it to urinating.

Abd for the record - the vast majority of nursing moms don't "whip out their breasts".

aaahhh militant mother one....

draconian ultimatum....get your head out of your damn ass, and yes we have disgussed this and she feels the same way about public breast feeding as i do...

yes i know the majority of moms don't whip out their breasts....it's the ones who do who ruin it for everyone.

i compair breast feeding to giving birth for the simple reason that mothers defending public breast feeding are always claiming that they'll do what is right for their baby where ever and no matter who is around and it's their right etc etc....well it's their right to give birth....but like Jeff Dunham's puppet says....location location location....same as breast feeding.

very true....poor choice of wording my bad....post has been edited [B-o]

but with that said....on both sides of a relationship there is alot of letting....giving...taking...and sharing....lol why do you think men consult their wives before doing something....like a guys night out...or a large purchase....it's so that their wife would LET THEM do what they are asking....don't tell me you've never 'let your husband' do something (no sexual undertones).

oohhh i know how kids scream cauz they are hungry in the middle of the mall.....but that's why most malls have nursing rooms....very nice rooms with comfortable seats, toys, microwave (for the bottle feeders) and most of all privacy so that that bonding time essential for mom and baby can be completed without sharing it with the general public.

A word of advice fellas. NEVER...ask your wife for permission.
It's easier to get forgiveness than it is to get permission!

It doesn't bother me one way or the other. I don't see breastfeeding as either sexual or offensive. I have sat beside mom's while they breastfed their babies. 'Junior was hungry. Junior got fed'. Not that I was taking particular note, but i didn't see 'anything' exposed.

Having said that, let me play 'devil's advocate'. What if I felt the need to have a whiz, and decided I didn't need to attend a restroom. Just suppose that I had a small bottle in my pocket and with the aid of my jacket was able to conceal 'the act' from all eyes. Certainly, I would think that what I was doing would be obvious to those around me, but I guess as long as they couldn't actually 'see anything', then no one would have any basis on which to make a complaint!

Keeping in mind that Idon't find anything offensive about breastfeeding, I gotta ask you 'why'?

Isn't it just a matter of perception? I mean Iwould find it offensive to know that someone was whizzing in a bottle in the middle of a mall even though I couldn't 'see' anything.
Using the logic of 'my own perception' I guess I could understand how some uptight, religious, prude,.... might percieve the act of breastfeeding in public to be offensive.
