You take your Toyota into a dealership with a bad alternator and chances are good he will just change the brushes.I did mine at around the 300,000 mile mark, just to be safe as I was going on a long trip.

Your Impala could be 20 years old but I am sure you'll tell me you've never had to replace anything on it

Take some advice, no matter which you drive, don't ever cheap out and get those crappy 'made in china' rotors. They are not worth it.

Spend the $60 or $80 for good quality rotors.

Not the same. Drop one on each of your feet, and you'll see there is a difference.

Look at the pics are you telling me the Impala rotor for more money is better than the higher priced Camry rotor? There is two options on the Camry one good and one bad...both cheaper in price one is equal quality.

A good Camry rotor 47 bucks, a good Impala rotor 60 bucks.

How about pricing them at the dealer and avoid those made in China rotors.... They are thinking on banning them in Nova Scotia....

I see a price reflecting a 14" rotor vs a 15" rotor. I'm sure that'll account for some of the difference. As well, what may be true for brake rotors may not be true for other parts.

Is a Camry the equivalent of an Impala?

Firstly, you are assuming the picture represents the actual product. All of them list as 'Economy' rotors, which in my experience means that they are made of poor quality steel, and will warp easily under light to moderate braking. They aren't worth any price, because they will fail and you'll have to replace them early.

Also, it's my experience that Camrys (Toyotas in General), and I'm not an expert by any stretch - are single plate rotors, where Chevs are typically vented rotors - meaning two plates with a space inbetween. They can handle heat better, and are also twice as heavy due to twice as much steel, and usually more expensive. Hence the foot-drop test.

I'm going to put SS stripes on my dually.

I was thinking about it for the Impala, but I'm not completely sold on it. Eventually it'll be supercharged and that means a gaping hole anyway.

I'll be saving my pennies.

I am so going to get one.

You might only need pennies! If GM folds before they get 'em all done, you can get a deal from the bankruptcy court.

Parts might be a problem though.

One of the Largest Camaro/Firebird/Transam parts dealers within 1 1/2 hr from 'our neighborhood'. Google 'David T's'
