Teaching sexuality should not be done in schools, jeeze. If it was so natural why would we need to talk to kids about screwing somebody from their own sex?

Every school in Canada needs it West IMHO. We need to teach kids it's ok to be who they are, not try to force them to endure a 'secret' life style. People need to get the hell outta the 50's!

I agree that we need to let kids know it's good to be who they are, but we also need to let them find out who they are on their own, not invite an author who's written a book called 'Rainbow Boys'. The football jock who thinks he might be homosexual doesn't need to be given the idea that accepting his sexual preference means slapping on a rainbow sticker and becoming an activist for a sub culture he doesn't identify at all with. The same goes for most adolescent youths who are questioning their sexuality.

I don't agree with the parents' objections because I am pretty sure they were made out of bigotry. But I am also suspicious of what the author's message about homosexuals may be. The message of tolerance and acceptance of homosexuals needs to be part of a global message of acceptance. Not to mention the fact that there are probably much more qualified people to make these kind of presentations.

The reason so many of the assholes on this board appear so homophobic is because they probably don't know any real homosexuals. They only know the stereotype. They'd be very surprised to find out that there are homosexuals, bisexuals and otherwise questioning and curious people literally all over the place, and they aren't marching in parades. Nonetheless, growing up in this sexually sick society was probably a torturous hell for them and they're all lucky to have emerged from it alive. So many young people who struggle with their sexuality end up committing suicide.
