DrCaleb DrCaleb:
It's not a big deal to retrofit. Get rid of rubber fuel lines, cork gaskets . . .

It's not just the corrosion to engine internals, ethanol blended fuel doesn't have half the shelf life of non blended gas.

Long story short, the ethanol will fall out of solution and you end up with octane level issues, water in fuel, and all kinds of other nasty shit.

Ethanol blended gas is only fit to be fire starter.

U.S. laws that mandate a certain percentage of the corn crop go into ethanol fuel for the transportation industry had lit a fire under corn prices even before the drought. The size of the continent's corn crop has been rising for a decade, before falling precipitously this year.

One of the dumbest things I've seen the US FedGov do yet for the following reasons:

1) Driving up the cost of corn and makes less available for food and feed.

2) Ethanol blended gas negatively impacts fuel milage.

3) Ethanol blened gas destroys small engines. I've seen the effects first hand on outboard marine engines, lawnmowers, etc.

No bacon and no engine make Patriot go crazy......

Besides the point though. My bacon supply is safe. I don't get it from the stores, I get the pork belly from a farmer, and cure and smoke it myself. Mmmmmmm! And easy too!
And my only question for you sir is this: why haven't I been invited to your house for breakfast ? [drool]

AS the resident Baconologist, I think this is bull. I refuse to believe there could be a world without easily obtainable and equally consumable Bacon.

Damnit we need bacon. I REFUSE TO SWITCH TO SOME INFERIOR "BACON" LIKE TURKEY BACON.

Those things are all true, but they represent a tenth of a tenth of a percent of the problem. The problem of "not enough corn" is 99.99% a problem of global warming and environmental irresponsibility. The fact that we're misusing our corn is secondary to the fact that we don't have enough fucking corn.

Turkey bacon 8O 8O goes right along with "lite" beer and "Imitation crab" meat. Nothing beats or can even come close to real, well smoked bacon.... [drool]

We have had too much corn.

The US government subsidizes it to the point that you can buy it cheaper than it actually costs to produce.
That's why North Americans are getting fat. Cheap corn by products for Coca Cola and pepsi. Cheap feed so beef hamburgers are all of a sudden the most affordable food out there.

And cows didn't evolve to eat corn. When they do eat it, they produce E coli. So now your beef must be bleached before it is served to you. This all goes away if cattle are fed grass instead of highly subsidized, super cheap corn.

In a lot of ways, a corn shortage might be a good thing.

Perhaps. I eat breakfast early. So if you are there for breakfast, it's because you've been there all night. I don't usually go for guys, but he might be really good looking so I'm not ruling anything out prematurely. ;)
