Morons from Oxford.. 'nuff said.

You believe that organized native insurrection is highly unlikely?

Organized, yes.

The way the Oxford boys kept going on and on about the railways
was so 19th century.

For the rest, native action may happen, but it is more due to
whitey being afraid to confront them rather than them doing anything proper.

$1:
Indian Posse
Indian Posse, also known as the IP, is an aboriginal street gang based in Winnipeg, Manitoba.[12] The first recorded incident from the gang took place in 1988. Originally, they were mainly active in Lac La Biche, Alberta and known as a high threat gang. The Indian Posse was featured in the fictional film Stryker by Noam Gonick which presents a positive portrayal of the gang "armies of resistance” to poverty and other problems. The film dealt with conflicts with the rival gang the now-defunct Asian Bomb Squad. The main character was referred to as “Stryker” a slang term for prospective recruits.[13]
It is estimated that there are over 12,000 Indian Posse members, making it the largest Street Gang in Canada . Indian Posse in active in Manitoba, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario, British Columbia, Texas and Oklahoma.[14] One of the alleged founders of the Indian Posse, Daniel Richard Wolfe, was murdered in the Saskatchewan Federal Penitentiary on 5 January 2010.[12]

We're funding their growth with prohibition, and you deny they even exist?

This is best the National Compost can gin up? Please. They'll all have to quit drinking and doing drugs to even have a chance of standing up for themselves to be considered an "insurrection".

:?

Yes I know that's harsher that'll what I usually write but I stand by comments on the national post.

A good friend of mine is a social worker for a bunch of the reserves in chilliwack and the stories he tells me of what goes on there make you blood boil. Starting with the money the band councils and chiefs take for themselves to the money that's just thrown away on booze and drugs.

Are there First Nations people who break this stereotype? Absolutely. When I was doing my undergrad I met a family of cousins who were doing their best to break the cycle. But let's be straight too. There are a great number of First Nations people who do nothing but live off the government.

Did you know that when a First Nations youth reaches voting age they get a stipend from the government? It usually amounts to a few thousand dollars. How many of those dollars do you think go to education or housing or other worthwhile things? How much do you think goes to booze and drugs?

Again, yes I realise I'm being very negative but realistic. If someone's warning that there's going to be a native uprising then they need to take a good look at the state of First Nations in this country. A few malcontents putting up blockades does not an insurrection make. If anything there needs to be a proper uprising. A loud demand for help from native leaders for help to get their people off the reserves and off the governments dime.

I had a run in with someone who claimed to be IP ten plus years ago. He "requested" I surrender my change and cigarettes. I countered with a suggestion that he have sexual intercourse with himself.

This displeased him greatly. I might have been more concerned about the attempt to rob me had he been able to walk three feet forward without also moving three feet to the left or right.

I was told that his IP buddies would be coming for me.

Still waiting.

Yeah? I had a friend who stood up to them for his employer "Foodfare". He died after receiving a gunshot wound to the face. They harassed his family for speaking to the media, his mom had to quit her job to get away from them.

I'm happy that you are safe.

All's we have to do is vote for Trudeau. I'm sure the FN don't want to muss up his hair.

Some very thoughtful points. R=UP

I'm sorry about your friend. I don't like hearing about people who die or get badly injured for standing their ground.

You may think me reckless and/or foolish, but it's just way I'm wired. I've stood up even when I knew the odds were not in my favour, whether because the job demanded it, the safety of family or friends was in question, or simply because I didn't want to give in that day.

Definately a little deference may have saved me a concussion or two, but when it hits the fan I don't consider it.

IP?

Laughable. They have become a fringe element in Edmonton.

Chased to the sidelines by gangs that are a fraction of their size...in both numbers and stature.

We could only be so lucky that any 'Native Insurrection' would be as 'fearsome' as the 'Indian Posse'.

Compared to real gangs, like those from Asia, Eastern Europe, and Central America, they are a bunch of wanna be thugs that get cheesy tat's to join the boy band.
