Just stating a partisan position doesn't really add to the debate. I looked at this and the history of all this and Harper has made a decision that is politically prudent for his government.
Again, reform has been blocked by the opposistion parties, especially the Liberals. I don't blame them for doing it as it's politically prudent for them to retain control of the Senate.
Here’s another perfect example of not understanding the problem and resorting to partisanship.

If every member of the opposition agreed to change the senate, it still wouldn’t happen. Without the provinces backing them to re-open the constitution things will stay exactly as they are. Ontario and Quebec will never go along.
The triple E senate was, and is a bullshit promise because no one can deliver it.
I have always supported the idea, however I also understand the impossibility of it ever occurring.
Harper is a hypocrite because he’s doing what every other PM has done and a liar for not explaining that he can’t do anything about it.
